This screenshot says it best. Part Mel brooks, part six, part Hamilton. The writers looked to other shows for templates and it showed. There are lots of songs in the show, one memorable melody, one touching ballad with good lyrics and a lot of pastiche that goes in one ear out the other (2 of 3)

I saw operation mincemeat over the weekend and had a lot of thoughts. Overall I enjoyed it and had a good time. It’s stylish, well performed and tells an interesting, fresh story. It stopped just short of being thrilling and I think that’s down to the music… (1 of 2)

I got to hear @nithyaforthecity.bsky.social and @kennethmejiala.bsky.social cast their positive, optimistic vision for LA tonight. There was so much camaraderie and joy in the room. Haven’t felt that in a while

Someone spray painted swasticas on this mural at the site of the Jewish temple down the street. So I got to use my poster making skills for the solidarity rally. Hate has no place here or anywhere.

Ted Neely was first off that conveyer belt, and is so far as I’ve heard a great guy

If you’re a theater person who likes new musicals (like truly new ones that aren’t based on pre existing IP) then you might like my show “the sagas of Snorri” available now through MT Ed Aliance www.musicaltheatreeducators.org/new-works-co... #newmusicals #sagasofsnorri #newtheater

I binged the fatal unpleasantness at netherfield by Claudia Gray over the wknd. If I were still on TikTok I’d be part of a robust booktok discussion about it. But ai drove me off that ap so, hoping to find a similar convo here. wanna gush with people about the parts that made us go awww and hmm

This is a Phoebe appreciation post. Yes the internet is shit and America is collapsing and we’re governed by monsters, but isn’t my cat adorable?

Finally watching Poldark, and it’s lowkey excellent. A familiar but well told story about making the best of things and efforts being rewarded. We need more stories like this #poldark

I’ve been haunted by Saint Francis lately. Idk why he came into my head a few weeks ago but now I hear about him everywhere. So I drew him on an old protest sign that was fading. And now he lives on my wall and watches me sleep #saintfrancis #poscamarkers #handdrawn #illustration #fuckai

I’m a TikTok refugee. I loved the algorithm I built. I loved the theater community, the sketch comedy, the activism, the thirst traps. But can’t bring myself to click past this pop up. I’ve opened it and read this several times today. What does “agree” even mean when there’s no option to disagree?

I’m glad solvang exists. It’s a monument of cottage core, well made pastries and warm customer service. In a world where charm is undervalued, a trip to solvang will always restore my hope

Went to the new #PasekandPaul musical Lyle Lyle crocodile yesterday. Am I 28 yrs older than the target demo? Yep. Did I love it. Yep. A triumph of tight writing, wit, tunes, joyful performances and fun visuals. It runs all month at the colony theater in Burbank. See it even if you don’t have kids

I use clip art to differentiate drafts when I’m working on a script. it’s cheesy but honestly so helpful to think “how can I reduce this story to an image” or “what icon best expresses this draft.” With this one, the Viking hat is giving camp, metal and sparse. That’s the vibe I’m going for

My niece, who is 8, was excited to show me this Lego set. She said “my mom told me you’re gay, so I imagine this is you and your apartment.” I am both incredibly touched and jealous of their aesthetic.
