Ben Bergman (he/him) @benbergman.ca · 03/08/2026Not yet, but I definitely will. I'll probably add an export/import option too so maps can be shared. 000
Ben Bergman (he/him) @benbergman.ca · 02/08/2026I think I've got a lot of the core functionality at least mostly working now. What kinds of things would you like to be able to do in a simple cozy sandbox game? #godot #gamedev 4293
Ben Bergman (he/him) @benbergman.ca · 28/07/2026Software is still early, so it can definitely end up with a gridlock situation, and new trains can be spawned on existing trains to compound the issue... I'm still not sure how I'll use this train tech (will it be a game? just a chill sandbox?). I imagine that will guide those solutions. 010
Ben Bergman (he/him) @benbergman.ca · 28/07/2026Absolutely. It was supposed to just be a debug feature, but maybe I'll keep some version of it in the final game. 100
Ben Bergman (he/him) @benbergman.ca · 28/07/2026My desire to play the late game train management of Factorio without having to first build out the tech tree or deal with biters may or may not have been a motivating factor here... 010
Ben Bergman (he/him) @benbergman.ca · 28/07/2026Now I want to add occasional accidents to the system. Like SimCity weather events, but maybe just driver errors? 020
Ben Bergman (he/him) @benbergman.ca · 28/07/2026Yes. I'm pretty sure I have some bugs in my visualizer. I think the movement of the trains looks like it is properly claiming blocks though. 100
Ben Bergman (he/him) @benbergman.ca · 28/07/2026Currently trains choose a random branch (though the RNG tried to hide it on me for this video). I'm not sure how complex I want the final thing to be, but I'm considering adding logic to the junctions, making trains route through checkpoints, or maybe stack a queue of directions (like RoboRally)? 010
Ben Bergman (he/him) @benbergman.ca · 28/07/2026I had no idea! 😅 I should maybe read up on more real-world train stuff and save me some future headaches. 160
Ben Bergman (he/him) @benbergman.ca · 28/07/2026I had to do a re-write to overcome some technical issues, but I'm now able to do proper track branching, collision avoidance, train variation, and multi-car trains! #godot #gamedev 1535828

It's already good enough and nobody will spot that tiny mistake, and the fact that you created something in the first place is already an achievement 192049519
Ben Bergman (he/him) @benbergman.ca · 05/07/2026I'm playing around with some @kenney.nl train assets in @godotengine.org. Should I make a simple train track sandbox toy/game? 5846
Ben Bergman (he/him) @benbergman.ca · 07/06/2026And for the matrix multiplication, ORDER MATTERS! Ben Bergman (he/him) @benbergman.ca · 07/06/2026I just published my first #godot asset! A multi-touch pan/rotate/zoom proof of concept I made for a future project. Ben Bergman (he/him) @benbergman.ca · 02/05/2026So excited that we finally have this out. Massive props to @mattwoelk.bsky.social for doing so much to get it across the finish line! If you want to quickly try it out, you can play in the browser without installing anything. 051

(play the game, take screenshot, fill in a short form) i.e. Want to playtest a short Deck-Builder? :) Then DM one of us. 042
