I had a copy of Grimm's fairy tales. I think one story ended up with the villain being tarred. That book now shares a space with my DVD of Requiem for a dream on my shelf of things I keep there so I know where they are so they can't hurt me.

Meriln Mann was one of the earliest life hack bloggers... Back when it was all index cards and GTD, now he mainly posts about taskmaster and dropout.tv . His life appears to be following exactly the same story arc as mine.

Extra note: career progression might not be in your best interest either. But I think that can only be learned the hard way.

Ben Chalmers @ben.cha.lmers.co.uk · 01/09/2026
However, your career progression is dependent on some of these people. So ultimately you need to make them care. And remember that managers are often incentivised to tell you to do things that are not in your careers best interest.

If I remember correctly and I'm not confusing it with godspell, jesus didn't resurrect in JCS. Lloyd Webber was presumably saving that for "JCS2 - you drank my blood and ate my body"

I agree it was on all the time, but I would have thought more like 6 episodes. There was the one with pootles cloud... There was possibly one about a flumpet... Not sure about any others, and I must have seen them all about a million times.

I would happily let some of my AI work run overnight (and I think tooling could be improved to allow things just to keep running), to take advantage of lulls in the data centre workload And there are times when I would happily fork out for a speed boost
000
Ben Chalmers @ben.cha.lmers.co.uk · 12/06/2026
But this problem has arisen in part because of the growth of agentic AI which is able to keep running without intervention. If this is the case then would it be better to give cheapskates access to the best models, but limit the speed of their requests.

Random thoughts about AI If it is true that ai companies are already making enough money from their infrastructure, and the problem they are facing is a lack of capacity At present their solution is to raise prices for the 'cheapskates' because they don't have much excess to offer them

I don't see a marching order or a caller anywhere in this picture. These kids today are too woke for encumbrance rules. And what about the mind bondage spells they're meant to be casting on their parents? Bring back THAC0 and the d6 bell graph.
A telegraph news article about how Dungeons and Dragons has gone woke. Along with a bright picture of a happy woke fantasy realm

Then I got a phone call from an entirely different number that I didn't recognise and ignored... But which when googled turned out to be the AA.

Ben Chalmers @ben.cha.lmers.co.uk · 17/11/2025
Got a text from the AA telling me to expect a call from them from a particular phone number (and including my membership number). So far, by the standards of this kind of thing, fairly reasonable. (would have been better if the message came from their app)

I think, given it's post technology, I would want a system that worked well for fantasy. (Also, there is something about the setting which gives me an Arthurian vibe). However, I would want the PCs to be displaced 21st century 'normals', so I wouldn't want a strict class system.

There was only one place I had to visit in Dubai. Though apparently there is no 'us' in Museum (Also apparently there are lots of coffee museums around the world - 3 in Germany alone - but none in the UK. Why don't we have a coffee museum? Maybe I should start a coffee museum... )

I don't think I have had clafoutis before tonight. I'm not sure I've really had it now, since it tasted more like a hot jellied custard than it looks like it should on Wikipedia... I think what I had was clefairytis (which is the jellified remains of a boiled down clefairy). It was delicious.
