I had a copy of Grimm's fairy tales. I think one story ended up with the villain being tarred. That book now shares a space with my DVD of Requiem for a dream on my shelf of things I keep there so I know where they are so they can't hurt me.

Meriln Mann was one of the earliest life hack bloggers... Back when it was all index cards and GTD, now he mainly posts about taskmaster and dropout.tv . His life appears to be following exactly the same story arc as mine.

I agree it was on all the time, but I would have thought more like 6 episodes. There was the one with pootles cloud... There was possibly one about a flumpet... Not sure about any others, and I must have seen them all about a million times.

Random thoughts about AI If it is true that ai companies are already making enough money from their infrastructure, and the problem they are facing is a lack of capacity At present their solution is to raise prices for the 'cheapskates' because they don't have much excess to offer them

I don't see a marching order or a caller anywhere in this picture. These kids today are too woke for encumbrance rules. And what about the mind bondage spells they're meant to be casting on their parents? Bring back THAC0 and the d6 bell graph.
A telegraph news article about how Dungeons and Dragons has gone woke. Along with a bright picture of a happy woke fantasy realm

Last night I dreamt about wandering lost for ages, not being able to find the way to my destination. But also that I had clocked up surprisingly few steps in the process.

Got a text from the AA telling me to expect a call from them from a particular phone number (and including my membership number). So far, by the standards of this kind of thing, fairly reasonable. (would have been better if the message came from their app)

There was only one place I had to visit in Dubai. Though apparently there is no 'us' in Museum (Also apparently there are lots of coffee museums around the world - 3 in Germany alone - but none in the UK. Why don't we have a coffee museum? Maybe I should start a coffee museum... )

I don't think I have had clafoutis before tonight. I'm not sure I've really had it now, since it tasted more like a hot jellied custard than it looks like it should on Wikipedia... I think what I had was clefairytis (which is the jellified remains of a boiled down clefairy). It was delicious.

My first thought on hearing the rapture has been predicted for today was "cool, I'm in Dubai, the Burj khalifa would be a great spot to watch it from" My second thought: "scratch that, Rapture will be underwhelming here. But there will be someone to serve me cocktails once I get left behind"

I'm not sure I'm built for five star hotels. Everyone keeps apologising to me for things that are clearly my fault. But I do quite like being called "Mr Benjamin" : it makes me feel like someone who has adventures in fancy dress, but also more sophisticated than that bowler hat wearing twat.

At the lounge in Stansted airport. It's at capacity, busy and children are screaming. But it is still 100 times better than being in the departure lounge. I remember when Stansted was one of London's best airports. Now I think it's the worst.

Tesco cafe has gone 'order from screen' only. But there are a few details I haven't seen before: When you order you pick up a device that looks much like the buzzers that restaurants used to use to tell you they have a table and enter its number into the screen.

Things that don't seem to exist in the UK which would be good: Car rental places where I can park my car for the duration of the rental. This would make hiring a car with the characteristics I need for a trip a no-brainer and allow me to have a far lower cost car for daily use.

Random UI thought: we have very flat interfaces because that's what screens do well. And screens are highly configurable. Is there a near future where we can have highly configurable tactile interfaces (maybe via vr/ar, maybe by something 3D printer adjacent)?

Today, I was unable to cut and paste from a bluesky post which had a slightly malformed link in it upon which I wanted to click. So I screenshot it, and used Google image search to extract the URL. I feel this might foreshadow a step change in usability and accessibility approaches.

Given that today's bluesky is all about bribes in packets of crisps, my question is: what crisps would make you upset if you found money taking up valuable crisps space? My answer: pom bear. It's a small bag so you couldn't fit much money... And the pom bear is much underrated
