Or is it the populist bullshit he's been peddling? The unsold condo tax and the 30 cent gas price reduction, designed to harvest votes, but idiotic and ultimately counter-productive policy? I can't vote for this version of Eby, and I used to love the guy

I am grasping for candidates for two elections at the moment. The guy who I thought was a lock for the other one has turned to populist pandering, with policies that are going to result in less housing built, and subsidies for driving and less funding for transit. Hard times.

If you are in favour of more broadly-distributed wealth and better economic outcomes for more people, understand that you can't accomplish anything by ignoring how markets function and pretending the world is a socialist fantasy land. Use markets. Understand the levers. Avoid unintended outcomes.

David, I think you're an awesome guy, but think this through: if developers build a condo development that doesn't sell well, they face the added risk of either facing an Unsold Condo Tax or having to get rid of the units in a fire sale. If that happened, who'd risk ever building another condo?

We are currently losing 3 minutes and 36 seconds of daylight every day. By my calculations, we will have no daylight left by April 13, 2027. And that's optimistically assuming that the loss doesn't accelerate. In early August we lost less than 3 minutes a day. I fear all is lost. Hug your kids.

It's wet-hopped but also can-conditioned, and that adds three weeks. It'll be ready on October 9th. The last of the year's wet-hopped beers.

The further tech infiltrates our lives, yes AI, but also phones, wearables, and soon implants, the more we're abdicating cognition; we'll just become meat puppets that the AI is wearing, unwilling and incapable of thinking for ourselves.

The meat pies and sausage rolls brexited in 2020, unfortunately. They still have real Belgian mayonnaise, though, and that's on my list. Also, where can I get some horse? We eat every other hoofed quadruped, why not horse?

What happens with these results? Well, the civic government could do these things right now without needing the approval of a plebiscite, and we might decide not to do them even if the plebiscite passes. So what are we doing here? Wasting paper and pencils.

That... doesn't make... sense. If your own federal bank doesn't lower the interest rate, you'll cut off trade with countries you have a trade deficit with? And that will help what exactly? This is why you elect a PhD in economics instead of an idiot. www.theglobeandmail.com/gift/7423991...

I dunno Stephen, seems reflective of a value system that doesn't make room for neurodiversity and judges people on one narrow skillset. He can't sound out onomatopoeia, but can he parallel park without a backup camera? (For the record, I'd nail this test and be judged a worthy prospective mate)

The trade war sucks, but at least this shitbag's pettiness is hilarious. “So, if you think about it, we have a gulf and we have a lake. Now all we need is an ocean. So maybe we’ll have to change the name of the Atlantic and/or the Pacific." www.theglobeandmail.com/gift/7423991...

I love bourbon. I looove it. Like maybe the only two things I love more are my wife and one of my two kids (jokes!) But I ain't touching the stuff. Not until the US is done being fascist.

The reality is that very little US-brewed beer was sold here even before this trade war. The enormous (mostly) foreign-owned breweries AB Inbev, Molson-Coors and Sapporo own Labatt, Molson. and Sleeman respectively, so they don't need to import Budweiser. They brew it here and take the profit there.

The brew today is Old Slang. A nice shoulder season beer for September, for when people are done with summer witbiers but not yet ready for winter stouts.

As a general rule, meat should either be cooked just barely enough that it is not hazardous to your health, or have the hell cooked out of it until it is falling apart. I don't have a lot of time for medium-well.

You might ask why no other brewery makes cool beer like this anymore. It's because nobody buys it anymore. (Well, we hope SOME people buy it, because otherwise we're going to have to start homebrewing it, because we're not going to stop drinking it)

We're going to put 400L of this into a couple of barrels that Sheringham distillery gave us. They aged a bourbon-like whisky in them and then filled them with their Aqvavit. Should be pretty cool.

I got to brew Lake City Farmhouse today! It's been 5 years since we brewed it. It's a spiced and herbed saison, made with fresh rosemary and sage from our own gardens. It'll be out just before Thanksgiving (the Canadian one, in October) and it's going to be a great turkey pairing.

It's not as simple as non-Sim. Our politics are split left and right, but also pro-housing and anti-housing. Fry being left of Sim/Hardwick isn't enough for me if he's going to oppose housing at every turn.

Homelessness is obviously the worst impact of our artificially-caused shortage, then crowding, forced co-habitation, lack of labour mobility, so on and so on.. But also, wouldn't it be nice if we just had more space? A spare bedroom? Why is FSR so important? What about a basement, a storage closet?
