First day with no job and this is the busiest I’ve been in a while 😂

James @beloitdavisja.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

Welp. I’ve been “restructured” as well. I’ve had this job for just over 21 years, counting that we got acquired about 4 years ago.

When your company tells you "AI is not here to replace you" they are absolutely lying through their teeth. Two of my devs got laid off today. Half of the devs on that team.

My work has had a benefit to use a 3rd party "Health Advocate" service that will help with a variety of healthcare and insurance issues. Just used it for the first time and honestly super helpful. That almost $500 bill from Novant for X-rays? yeah.... supposed to be fully covered.

Neither me nor anyone in my family has lived in VA. BUT - I grew up in NC and my parents are from the Midwest & PA, so maybe I got the average between that and the south.

I had through Alves wouldn’t be eligible since he played in 1 game w/ #canes (for 7.6 seconds!) but reading further into the requirements, it says no NHL experience under a standard player contract, which I bet he wasn’t (probably a PTO?)

My HOA is putting on a pickelball tournament and it is the most unorganized mess ever. I gave some feedback on some changes and they were 🤷 So basically the format is 9 teams just play a bunch of 8 point games with whoever for 2 hours, top 4 teams will play 5(??) point games to determine a winner.

My #canes season pass fan duel subscription last year was $109, so $100 for an annual pass via Prime will be less than last year, and much cheaper than monthly if you plan on watching at least one game a month over the whole season.
