Insane that the best 3 albums of ‘24 were released within something like 30 days (from my memory, I’d check the specifics but there are cocktails to make 😝) Absolute stunners Shambolics @bellemtmusic.bsky.social The Snuts 💥💥💥

From 2011–2018 I played cover gigs to get by. Occasionally, I still get panicked texts from agents, but fees haven’t budged in those 13 years: £175 for 3x45 min sets in 2011 is STILL £175 now when it should be £250 with inflation. 🗣️…Maybe this is why you can’t find enough musicians to play shows? 🤷‍♂️

You send music to music lovers on Bluesky and 🥁 they actually listen to it and reply… just like the good old days of twitter 🫶

I know it’s not a competition but Jesus had 12 followers and I now have 15… I know it’s not a competition, it isn’t, we’re both good at what we do.

Artists: maybe nothing is working because we’re living in an imaginary online place and expecting tangible real world results. Get out there and affect some people!

The average Spotify user streams ~25 hrs/month. Spotify could do the right thing: cap ‘unlimited’ $10.99 plan at 700 streams (~45hrs/month), pay artists 1c/stream ($7 to artists), keep $3 for themselves, and put 99c into a grassroots music fund. Fairer streaming is possible…🧵

Intro: 👋 Hey I’m an indie music artist who has had some success and my fair share of failure, I co-host a podcast called ‘DROPPED’ where I talk with my pal Greg Holden about what a shitshow the music industry is right now & we work out how we can navigate it & reach our fans again. Who are you?
