RIP Dolly, Our Patron Saint of Literacy May her light shine bright on those who read. May reading never burn out, due to her works. She knew true poverty. Literally dirt poor. Once she made it, built up her little neck of the woods by supporting community, students, and readers.

Help us cause some good trouble by doing a virtual Facebook “check-in” at Dade-Collier Training and Transition Airport today. The more people who check in, the harder it is for surveillance tools to track who’s actually there. It’s a simple but powerful way to show up and support from a distance.

translifeline.org/clarifying-m...
Screenshot of the URL: We are aware of viral social media posts falsely claiming that Trans Lifeline’s Canadian hotline number (877-330-6366) is a new national suicide crisis line available to everyone in the U.S. due to recent political developments. We want to clarify that this information is incorrect.

877-330-6366 is Trans Lifeline’s Canadian hotline number. It is a peer support line run by and for trans people. It is not a general crisis line and is not equipped to support the broader public.
While the Trump administration has proposed cutting federal funding for LGBTQ+ youth crisis services, no national suicide hotline has been shut down.
Canada has not “donated” a national suicide hotline number to the U.S. or to LGBTQIA+ communities.
This misinformation has unfortunately led to a sharp increase in calls from people outside of our community, which limits our capacity to support the trans people our line was built to serve. If you’re not trans and have seen or shared one of these posts, we kindly ask that you help us correct the information.

Why slam the door on elected officials who are there to protect the public’s interest? This move doesn’t just raise red flags, it waves them. When a federal agency tries this hard to operate in the dark, we have to ask: What are they trying to hide?

By locking out lawmakers, ICE is shielding itself from the very oversight that is meant to prevent human rights abuses, mismanagement, and corruption. If everything inside these facilities is above board, then why the secrecy?

These laws were created to prevent abuses and ensure public accountability. ICE cannot lawfully override them with a policy memo. Doing so also violates the Administrative Procedure Act, which prohibits federal agencies from contradicting existing laws with internal rules.

@cityofrochester.bsky.social's answer to Trump's sanctuary city lawsuit calls ICE's emergency call "a sham." Good stuff.
On March 24, 2025, federal immigration enforcement agents made a call directly to the
City of Rochester’s 911 Center, requesting emergency assistance from the RPD in the context of
a car stop. Unbeknownst to the City of Rochester at the time, this purported emergency call
would prove to be a sham. When Rochester police officers arrived on the scene, there was no
emergency nor any sense of exigency or urgency among the many federal law enforcement
agents present. Notwithstanding the lack of any emergency, the federal law enforcement agents
persisted in their attempts to co-opt Rochester police into enforcing federal immigration
regulations, by directing police officers to remove the occupants from the van, and by standing
by and watching as Rochester police placed those occupants in handcuffs. Upon information and
belief, at no point were any of the individuals in the vehicle suspected of committing any crime,
and their detention was for civil immigration enforcement purposes only.
In short, federal law enforcement agents at the scene unlawfully conscripted local police
to engage in federal civil immigration enforcement in violation of the Tenth Amendment to the
