I've been drafting some ideas for work on paper, and it's helped solidify some ideas more than typing. It's kinda cool. Now the real challenge is going to be taking gaming notes by hand. I have godawful writing when I try to write fast. I need to train myself. Not an easy task in middle age.

I never cared much what people thought of my hobbies, but in my 40s I've fully embraced a "I don't give a fuck" attitude. Contrary to what people like the loser in the screencap think, I've got a great job, wonderful wife, friends who are like family. We're all gamers, TTRPG, video games, or both.

I share that stance wholeheartedly. My wife and I don’t have kids, and we believe in being armed. We’re prepared to kill and die for the people we love - they do have kids, why deserve a future. That’s not bravado. It’s pragmatism.

It's fascinating, isn't it? I read HP my first year of college (2000) & beyond. I thought it was a fun enough low stakes read, but the cult-like devotion it has after JK laid all her bigotry bare is weird AF. It sucks when an artist you liked ends up sucking, but the decent thing is to ditch them.

Those types of stories aren't even inherently bad as part of a person's *overall* "story diet". The potato chips of media if you will. I love compelling story in a rich world and sometimes like to chill with schlock. The main problem with HP is it's nearly become a religion for some. It's freaky.
