I think the thing here is that the elite media types at the Times are disproportionately surrounded by wealthier white gay men who tend to want to be viewed separately from the rest of the community due to their privilege. I think this is from 1992, during Clinton's initial run for POTUS, not 1995. Fwiw, I'd been out, proud, and VERY publicly lesbian for years by the time this ad ran. The right-wing ran fear-mongering campaigns against gays and lesbians EVERY election back then, just as they do now about trans people.

Happy Father's Day to this badass rack of ribs and not my piece of shit dad!

Ribs with the following seasonings used as a rub and the following sauce additions:

-cayenne
-chipotle pepper
-white pepper
-black pepper
-Penzey's "Resist" blend
-Penzey's Galena St rub
-onion powder
-garlic powder
-Sat

Sauce seasonings/flavorings:
-all of the above seasonings MINUS Galena
-chicken broth
-liquid smoke
-Worcestershire sauce
-apple cider vinegar
-brown sugar

•Bake seasoned ribs (wrapped in foil, meat side down) at 275° for 3 hours

•Unwrap and cover with seasoned sauce, add a few additional shakes of pepper and seasoning (any or all of the above listed)

•Increase temp to 400° and cook for 15 more minutes

•Broil for 2 minutes

•Remove from oven, cover pan, and let ribs rest for 10-15 min before serving

When I opened Q in 2012 the min. wage in Washington was $9. We opened paying $15hr knowing Seattle was gonna bump it to 15 in 2014. All my fellow bar owners were PISSED at me....because all their employees wanted to work for me & I only needed to charge 25 cents extra a drink to offset that $6.
