According to my back-of-the-envelope maths, the increase in police officer FTE's has been 2.9%, however the population had increased 1.8% over the same period. Which business would accept performance that used (we presume) 100% of budget to take 50% longer to deliver 60% of what it promised? #nzpol

According to Mark Mitchell's page on Wikipedia, in 2024, the Govt announced funding to recruit and train 500 extra police officers by the end of 2025. Then they moved the target to mid-2026. We're still sitting at 297. That's 50% more time, and only 60% of target. But that's not all...
