This week marks the end of my employment with Supermassive Games, a studio I’ve been with for 14 fruitful years. I’m looking forward to starting my next adventures, but in the short term, I may work on some of those pet projects I’ve been mulling for the past few years!

Best game that came out this year for me was probably Expedition 33, but the one I played and enjoyed by far the most was older: Mechwarrior 5 Mercenaries (full DLC campaign). Literally hundreds of hours spent blowing up heavy metal.

I love 4E - it's the edition I cut my teeth on as a writer for D&D. So no surprise, I also love DRAW STEEL, which feels like a spiritual successor to 4E, except with an adamantine skeleton hammered out in a heavy metal forge. I love the brevity of description in the new D&D starter set. Locations and NPCs are pared down to the bare minimum, without turning things into an ugly list of bullet points. I think we could all learn a lesson from this!
