$198M / 3,500 parking spots = $56,571 per spot. But no money for affordable housing, healthcare, education, OSAP, and ODSP. Got it.

If Doug Ford were running the federal government the same way he's running Ontario now, there would be a whole lot more high-profile comparisons to Trump. Considering how much power provincial government has, they're appropriate now too.

Transport Canada is looking for feedback on Headlights on vehicles. If you’re like me (a middle aged curmudgeon) and think that headlights have gotten dangerously bright in the last 5 years, or if you think they’re great, here’s a ~5 minute survey to provide feedback. www.surveymonkey.ca/r/F9WBTLZ

The most underappreciated issue in urbanism is the Anglosphere’s transit construction cost problem. It’s not just that we’re spending too much money on any particular project. It’s that we could be getting *much more transit* for the *same amount of money we’re currently spending*.

One of the worries about ION light rail was "unsightly overhead wires", but 1) they turned out fine actually, and 2) along most of the route the project decreased overhead wires as power lines were put underground along and across the corridor Before / After:
Pre-light rail Street View of Allen at King streets in Waterloo. There's some lofts and new apartment buildings and on-street power lines on King St, and two-tier power lines on Allen StSame spot with light rail tracks. There's on balance more buildings in the shot, the overhead wire for light rail, but the power lines dive underground when crossing the tracks, and are underground along King St. Overall there's fewer wires

A big reason why we’re here is Trump has long spoken like he honestly believes trade deficits are some sort of fee America pays and should retaliate against and most people in the media were like “he can’t actually mean that, that’s way too stupid” so they covered him like he meant something else.
