it's really tough balancing like, your ultimate "vision" with what's possible, and sometimes compromise feels... kind of like losing? But honestly if you don't have the time for it, one of the goals has to change, and it's not any fault of your own for not being able to work on it in the same way!!

and if you can't compromise on the level of effort, then learn it's okay to compromise on the update schedule. like it's just a choice you can make there, and it's not a wrong one! keep it happy!! "special beef moments" sounds really awful now that i've typed it out but i think i'll leave it there

TBH i don't line my work at all - or should i say i don't sketch? i just draw once and clean it up unless something's really complicated. find the part of the comic you don't want to do and just: don't do it. i do not like doing the same thing twice, so i just don't. my comic is just for fun.

it's different for other formats but generally i only spend 3-4 hours on a page. finding that much time in a week is easy... but i know figuring out how to spend only 3-4 hours can be trickier for others. i compromise with the intended length of my comic (1500+ pages!) with loose sketchy stuff.

for me, my comic-making is always fun and positive and even if i were working 80+ hours, it's my me-time, my special beef moments. the updates don't happen with regularity solely out of discipline but because half the time i'd spend goofing off to relax i also spend on comics. art is not work to me!

fancy blorboutfit planning hours... i could always choose not care but i CARE. extremely pleased with my stupid double apron skirt (?) tail workaround. the undershirt is longer than actually intended but the intent is there. the sleeves are unnecessarily tied stupid for fashion reasons

SDV's creator basically wanted to take all the good parts of all the original Harvest Moons (bunch of weird copyright problems there, newer games are Stories of Seasons and newer Harvest Moons are Not) and cut out all the weird decisions they made in the series. Ultimately SDV is all the good of HM!
