catching up on the latest stream. luna brought up a personal anecdote about being perceived as absent when she is here and vice versa, and asked the audience if they experienced anything similar. ...

i've been getting into tetsuya komuro's work lately. amazing composer and keyboardist; there's something strangely familiar and beautiful about his soundtrack albums in particular, and his work with globe feels so far ahead of its time. it's no wonder he was a household name in the 90s jpop scene.

today i came across a video that i realized was what people were referencing when they were saying "the biggest beef steak" after i sent a message in chat for the longest time i've been rolling with it without knowing its origin, and now i'm angry that i JUST found out cuz god it's so fucking funny

which is an insanely tone deaf mindset to have about anything ever, especially in the big '26 where all the information in the universe is at your fingertips. and your reply is exactly my point: doesn't take a degree to have talent, let alone more basic knowledge on something in your craft.

be●ef @beefgetsu.bsky.social · 14/09/2026

LOL thanks but i was making a reference to some recent art drama; someone drew fanart of two characters from an indie web series with very inaccurate skin tones (too light), and part of their response to the backlash they got for it was "well i'm not an art student so idk color theory like y'all do"

fanart of luna except i'm still not an art student @lunasmr.bsky.social

the low-effort digital doodle of chibi luna i posted earlier today, except in full color, and showing the full square canvas, of which the little moon spirit takes up a small portion. nothing else has changed about the doodle.

there are no excuses for lacking any knowledge and understanding of things in today's internet age, where you do not need any sort of credibility, prerequisite, or free time to learn something. there are no excuses for not using the resources already available to you - not just on your creative program of choice, but built into your device as well. there are no excuses for half-assing certain details when references exist for you to go off of, and if the best reference you have is something of poor quality where an element that isn't fully discernible, and you can't nail it at 100%, get as close as you can regardless of any circumstance. if it doesn't turn out well the first time, try again; practice doesn't have to make perfect but it will make progress.

next time you think about doing anything out of your comfort zone, and are hesitant to follow through with it, put that into consideration.

fanart of luna except i'm not an art student

screenshot of a low-effort digital(?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!) doodle of a luna chibi luna smiling and waving. she lacks any color whatsoever, and is instead all 100% the color white. this is a nod to how non art students lack the basic tools and understanding of color needed to accurately portray non-white characters.

ok, the white is actually a boundary mask, part of a method i picked up from an artist i came across online. i'm gonna post the color version soon, i promise! ^^;

heart at midnight @lunasmr.bsky.social (yes i know it's not even fall yet i just wanted to make it snowy for the vibes)

catgirl luna, walking alone down a path on a dark, snowy night. she passes by a bench and a street light, the latter of which shines its light onto her, revealing that she is clad in all black winter attire, her only discernible features being the piercings of her ears that poke out of her cap, her siver hair flowing in the opposite direction of the snow (this was unintentional but we'll pretend that means something), and the smile of a pure, gentle heart, under the new moon.

and i know i've been a sourpuss lately (says he to the wall of his echo chamber), but this time i feel like a rant like this is justified - especially since i speak from experience, both as the producer, and more so as a consumer who has been in the hypothetical sentimental fan's shoes before.

100

be●ef @beefgetsu.bsky.social · 09/09/2026

but it genuinely does not fucking hurt to keep your old shit up in some capacity for someone or another, or even yourself, to look back on. which reminds me, you know those "how it started/how it's going" comparisons? tell me, what good would come out of not showing how it started?

100

be●ef @beefgetsu.bsky.social · 09/09/2026

this is why fans make archive pages for vtubers' streams and videos. hell, this is why archives exist in the first place. obviously luna isn't as significant a figure and it's not like she's gonna be signed to a major agency - in fact iirc she even said she wasn't interested in that -

100

be●ef @beefgetsu.bsky.social · 09/09/2026

you don't know anything about your fans, especially what they watch from you. someone could be going back to watch the very first streams because they're just "in a sentimental mood" for that era in time; how would they feel when they want to watch those streams again, and they're just... gone?

100

be●ef @beefgetsu.bsky.social · 09/09/2026

one of the worst things a content creator could do is take down their old content without warning or reason, and say exactly that. only exceptions are if you were saying/doing something irresponsible, or if someone was part of it that you no longer associate with.

110

be●ef @beefgetsu.bsky.social · 09/09/2026

i got to the part in the latest lunasmr vod where, during a convo about stream archival and vods, luna admitted to not saving her first two streams with her old model and that "you wouldn't want to see that anyway", making those first two streams completely lost media.

just throwing this out there.

"it's fine to watch the stream. it's fine to have a conversation; it's an aside to what's being talked about on stream. don't consistently make your only contributions to the chat specifically about yourself. if you want your own platform, get your own stream. get on the fucking camera and stream - make it your show. don't turn someone else's stream into the 'me me me show'. again, it's fine to have conversations; you're interacting with each other, you're interacting with the streamer - you're not just chiming in to say what you have to say only about yourself. it's obnoxious and super disrespectful to the chat and the streamer. so yeah, don't do that."

- paraphrased from a rant a streamer went on following my erratic behavior in chat, c. 2021.
