We all hope that we can make a change in this world. Even for just one person. Something meaningful, something impactful even. So that when we die, our defining moment is a good one. I can only hoped to be remembered in this way. Such poetic beauty.

He's been wandering around the house like Groucho Marx for two hours.
Walter the Shih Tzu got a Dentastix after dinner, as he does every day. But he isn't eating it. He's just carrying it about like a cigar. A side shot of Walter with his "cigar".

Pinching myself as it sinks in that I've spent time sitting next to Catherine Connolly sharing my work with women and the archives. What a way to spend a Saturday.

A lovely day at the Digging At 60 conference at the Seamus Heaney Centre. 60 years since Death Of A Naturalist was published. My small contribution was taking a look at Heaney's 1966 in film.

So that's just the four gigs in the last week. 😁 Sigur Rós were amazing again last night in Dublin. I think I preferred it to Belfast because you can actually sit too close in a gig and right up front, I missed a load of stuff going on with the orchestra.
Set up for Sigur Rós and the Ulster Orchestra in Bord Gáis Theatre last night. Empty stage.

Gerard McCarthy's reposnse to Maureen Lipman's accusations and attack in The Telegraph is an absolute masterpiece. He totally dissects her statement line by line. Just brilliant. This mic drop of a closing statement too.
"Maureen has also suggested that I should 'grow up'.

I sincerely hope I continue to have that opportunity.

Tens of thousands of children in Gaza never will."

These are gorgeous but that tableau is incredible! I found this in an antique shop. It's from Le Soir Illustré magazine, July 1951 and it's one of my most treasured things.
An illustrated map of the Tour de France 1951. It's the full route, surrounded by cartoons. A cartoon illustration of cyclists racing around mountainsA cartoon illustration of cyclists. There has been a crash. A camera man is being held by his feet hanging out of an airplaneA cartoon illustration of the end of the stage of the Tour de France. It is a humorous look at the race including a policeman trying to direct the riders.
