The big advantage that sports had in the cord-cutting era was that it was something you had to watch live, which was valuable if your main distribution model was linear TV. But now that basically every network is also a streamer, that value is decreased a bit

The sports rights part of this is what's interesting to me. (The job cuts are just awfulness.) At some point, content companies are going to stop spending as much money on sports, and it will be interesting to see who takes the haircut. The merger just accelerates it a bit

This is why I harp on the fact that South Carolina has never started a season 3-0 under Shane Beamer. Because if you can't do that, you are more often than not going to end up in the Reliaquest Bowl. It is too deep a conference (plus Clemson) to count on a 8-1 run down the stretch. Especially at SC
