The problem with any task management system is that they inherently assume there will always be more tasks to do, while I can only function if I believe that once I finish my tasks there will be no more tasks.

Same here, whenever people reference AI search I ask what the source is, which is how I've learned that it's terrible at accurately sourcing its own claims.

I don't think they got the $15M unfortunately, that was the claim not the settlement. Sounds like they mostly just agreed for SpaceX to stop trespassing, and got little if any compensation

As someone who follows you, this is genuinely awful. The graphics are nonsensical and convey no useful information. Can't believe you would put your name to this honestly

panel 1
situation: there are [111 mayors of new York city]

[111]?! Ridiculous! We need to [elect] one universal [mayor] that covers everyone's use cases.
Yeah!

panel 3

That's my point! People in this thread are implying that asking individuals to voluntarily wear a mask is the same thing as demanding 'universal masking'. It would only be universal masking if everyone did so voluntarily, in which case there's surely no problem.

Simon @becomeunsure.bsky.social · 15/10/2025
Oh, so you're asking everyone to wear oven mitts every time they go outside?

Simon @becomeunsure.bsky.social · 15/10/2025
The problem is that a substantial amount of transmission occurs before symptoms appear. This is a key point that many people on the left don't want to grapple with, because it makes things less convenient.
1140
Simon @becomeunsure.bsky.social · 15/10/2025
It's not purely performative unless you think masks don't work. You can show solidarity while engaging in effective action. You think picketing is purely performative?
2160
Simon @becomeunsure.bsky.social · 15/10/2025
But how do you know when you're sick? It's very common for transmission to occur before symptoms appear. And I think you're overstating what is usually being asked for - voluntary masking in places vulnerable people can't avoid. You can just say 'no thanks', no need to strawman or pathologise
0170
Simon @becomeunsure.bsky.social · 15/10/2025
Since you've the word-knower, when you say 'universal masking' do you take it to mean voluntary or mandated? Because I don't see a problem with universal voluntary masking

Simon @becomeunsure.bsky.social · 11/10/2025
And if you exercise your freedom to wear a mask nowadays, the freedom-lovers tend to get real annoyed

Wild how it's essentially government policy to put 'people whose immunity to covid has waned' and 'people who think they currently have covid' in the same location, and then to also be like 'no need to wear a mask 💕'

I still can't tell if the point here is 'things are broadly getting better, but social media is distorting that fact', or 'these high profile incidents rightly undermined an overly confident narrative'.

BIG NEWS! SafeWork Australia has just published a Model Code of Practice for health facilities. Note on page 101 it says facilities MUST (not optional) ensure there is enough ventilation to avoid WHS risks including airborne pathogens. www.safeworkaustralia.gov.au/doc/model-co...

To add, not wanting to eat in restaurants or travel is totally understandable especially for those with immune deficiencies, chronic illness or other risk factors. Unfortunately this person is using it as a bullshit excuse not to engage at all through any medium.

Thanks for the reminder. I submitted a brief comment, here's what I wrote in case anyone wants a starting point
To minimise the risk of long covid and other post-acute health impacts of the virus, I continue to wear a respirator-style mask in public places.

I strongly value ventilation/filtration of shared air, accessibility of testing and masks, access to regular boosters, and public health communication providing accurate information. I also appreciate viral surveillance (e.g. wastewater testing) which helps me make informed decisions.

The main issue I have these days is safely accessing healthcare, including dentistry, or services that require ID (driving licence renewal, etc.). It is not easy to navigate these situations when other people may have abandoned most precautions and are not prepared or willing to utilise them upon request.

Guidelines or legal frameworks about what precautions people are reasonably entitled to request in these situations would be helpful. Public health communication that promotes the inclusion of people who still take precautions is also much appreciated.

'We have to stop helping people now, otherwise we might be forced to stop helping people at some undetermined point in the future' I think I'd take the latter, even though this isn't how economics works (see women like Stephanie Kelton, Mariana Mazzucato, and Pavlina Tcherneva)

I remember her consistently minimising long covid and the cumulative risk of reinfections, and getting into feuds with scientists who suggested the possibility of immune dysfunction.
