A TNG scene. We're in the Enterprise conference room, where Picard is holding a meeting with Data, Troi, and Dr Crusher. Barclay is also there, for unknown reasons. Maybe he wandered into the meeting and just sat down, and everyone was too polite to mention it. That happened to me once. I was visiting an office location I didn't normally go to and I wasn't quite sure which conference room I was supposed to be in. I walked into one and sat down and it took me five minutes to realize I was in the wrong meeting. From the perspective of the people in that room, halfway through that meeting, a stranger walked in, sat next to the boss, took notes for five minutes, then walked out without saying a word.

Totally, same as theatre/movie production families (meta and ironic, lol)! The show’s just so good at critical examination of family dynamics and toxicity (real fam *and* work fam) that it’s a bummer it falls into this trap/trope where this one relationship is concerned.

A fish-not-knowing-they’re-wet thing, maybe? 25yrs ago I recall being scared obsessed w/it. Paradoxically, taking photos in public spaces 25yrs ago didn’t make ppl paranoid in the way it often seems to now (maybe that’s a less-conscious sense of understanding you’re in a surveillance culture?).

Mixed feelings about how late our growing season is going here in Nova Scotia: huge gratitude for all my raspberries, tomatoes and purple tomatillos ( #foodsky what do I do with tomatillos other than salsa??). Enjoying my quick-pickled jalapeños. But yikes this warmth is confusing plants!
