Sitting next to the rude man who always pushes people out of the way to get on the train first. He’s reading a hardback book from which he has removed the dust jacket. But I can see his squalid reading material is about Nigel Farage. 😂

screaming www.tumblr.com/reggiemess/8...
A screenshot of a tumblr post by user “reggiemess” featuring a classical-style painting of a woman reclining and reading a small red book. The woman is shown in profile, with dark hair and pale clothing, against a muted brown background.

Overlaid white text on the image reads:

“Before, writers didn't use AI, they stole their wife's work and claimed it was theirs.”

What with @themerl.bsky.social very fancy and beautiful rats going about their rural business, I proclaim it a rat girl summer.

More in the occasional series “slightly bonkers things I do at work”. Today is bagging up medicinal herbs for a quiz. Nobody makes me do these things but they do let me.
Little muslin bags with numbers attached surrounded by packets of herbs that you might find in a monastery garden.

Fun things at the PWR semi-final yesterday. Someone gave Emma Wassell a post-match Tunnock’s, I was complemented on my Magic Meg t-shirt by Meg Jones, beloved discovered they sell beer in 2 pints (his hobbit joy was immense), and we won! Away. Against 3 times champions Gloucester Hartpury.
The outside of Kingsholm stadium in Gloucester. Huge sign on the side of the building has Kings crossed out and corrected to Queensholm.

Poor Bernard has an ulcer in his eye and is subject to a horrible regime house arrest, being regularly picked up and having eye drops administered. He is bearing it bravely but will not submit to the cone of shame.
A brave little black and white cat with a gammy eye.

Forgotten medieval pie recipe revived in the City of London
A long-forgotten medieval dairy pie is set to be tasted again in the City of London for the first time in centuries – although thankfully it’s only the recipe that’s ancient, not the pie itself.

Every UK graph
'Good thing' (on the y-axis), improving steadily from 1930, especially from 1945, then declining sharply from 1979, improving again from 1997, then falling through the fucking floor from 2010 onwards, thanks to George Osborne and associated psychopaths

A very happy St George's Day, to all who celebrate.
A picture if George Michael our lord and saviour, looking like a snack. He's all pensive, there's a shadow over his face. Cross earring is on. The works.
