I think the instructions to assemble this pumpkin icebox cake on a plate rather than in a pan and "swirl as artfully as you'd like" were, perhaps, not the best. 😆 But fall dessert season has officially begun! #foodsky 🍽️

Recent Reads: King's Folly by Jill Williamson, the first 3 parts of Williamson's The Kinsman Chronicles. It was nice to escape to an epic fantasy! I enjoyed the multiple character POVs & learning the truth about the different gods and reasons why the continent is collapsing. Looking forward to more!

I can't help but compare this work with T.K. Rex's @tkrex.bsky.social The Wildcraft Drones. Both books focus hope on the adaptability of humanity, even when disasters of human creation threaten collapse. Both are published by Stelliform Press and written by authors who are lovely human beings.

Recently had the Turon iced coffee at Macs by Icky, and what a treat! It pays tribute to the beloved Filipino banana lumpia. Banana puree syrup mixed with coffee and milk, banana cold foam, those cute little banana chips, and bruleed caramel sugar for a crunchy coating on top. Yum! #foodsky 🍽️🥤🍌

Recent Read: The Outline of History, H.G. Wells. Well worth the effort! It's a great overview of how cultures have been invaded, combined, flourished, grown stagnant, been invaded again and so on through many millennia. Always good to remember, especially during the current American Imperialism era.

The book is pictured with its spine visible, which is a good two inches thick. It's half as high as the coffee mug pictured behind it.

17! Sometime in July in the year 2009, Mazu was born in a barn in North Carolina. She's a year into chemo treatment for small cell lymphoma and doing pretty good. Her arthritis pain is the hardest to manage, but as long as she gets daily walks around the yard and sunshine naps, we're all happy.
