MacStories is cool. Thanks for featuring Bear in the list! 🐻❤️

#update Bear 3.0 is here... No, you didn’t miss anything. We just had to bump the version number because of a macOS 27 issue that breaks the UI once a version number climbs past .9 🫠 On the bright side, you can now tell people you use Bear 3 and sound extremely cool. 🤘😎

#update Bear now plays nice with iOS 27, iPadOS 27, watchOS 27, macOS 27 Golden Gate and the new Siri AI! 🚀 Ask Siri to whip up a new note, summarize the one you have open, or dig up notes on any topic you’re chasing. A little help that makes your day that much easier. 😌

I wanted to share my appreciation for @bearnotesapp.bsky.social. I've happily paid for it for years and will keep doing so. Its core is barebones: a native Markdown editor with tags and code highlighting. Everything else comes second. That restraint is the whole point. preslav.me/2026/08/12/b... 1/

When a Notes App Is Just a Notes App

My thoughts on why Bear Notes is still worth paying for every year.

That's right! It's one of the reasons we leaned into making tags more powerful rather than building a separate library system, the flexibility was already there 🙌

Using the Lettera for editing Markdown files is actually pretty awesome. More about the project by @bearnotesapp.bsky.social you can find here: lettera.md

Correct! Click the double chevron and select Notes in the menu, Bear will then return to the original view

#new #BearTips Use Workspace to keep work and life separated in Bear: Right-click on a tag to set as Workspace, and Bear narrows down to just those notes and related tags in your Sidebar. Less noise, more focus. Have you tried it?

#update Introducing Workspace, a new way to focus! 🧘 Now you can turn any tag into a dedicated workspace. Bear shows only the notes under that tag, and the Sidebar only shows the related tags. One tag, 100% focus. Learn how it fits into your workflow: blog.bear.app/2026/07/bear...

Hi! Yes unfortunately Lettera is built around the latest macOS design language and currently we want to allocate our time more towards the platform it is on at the moment. Regarding plugins, at the moment we don't have plans to add plugin support. Thanks for the feedback!

#BearNews We were honored to be invited to Apple Developer Academy in Naples last week! Our co-founders took the stage to share the Shiny Frog journey, talk about what's next for Bear and a (not so) new app. Also: we had A LOT of pizza. Naples made sure of that. 🐻🍕

I’ve been using @bearnotesapp.bsky.social for the last few months and really enjoying it. Great, simple design, native apps on all Apple platforms, and a step up feature-wise compared to Notes. I don’t know why I slept on it for so long.

That being said, you can already write emoji as part of the tag, for example, you can write #🐻bear so the emoji is in the tag name, which will also be displayed in the Sidebar. Hope it helps! (2/2)

We thought about using emojis for TagCons, but we have a few concerns: Emojis are static images, so they don’t adapt to dark or minimal modes like native icons do. In addition, they look different across every OS and platform, so the consistency is an issue. (1/2)

At the moment we dont have plans to add PlantUML because it requires a Java-based engine that doesn't fit into Markdown based notes app. That being said, we'll look into alternatives in the future. 💪
