He was a wonderful companion. One of the last things I said to him was that there may be other cats as good as him but there will never be one better. He will be very sorely missed.

Jasper peacefully crossed the rainbow bridge this morning (Tuesday 6 October 2026) around 2am, warm and safe and comfortable and snuggled up to the two people who loved him most in the world.

Most of all he loved to cuddle on the couch. He spent many hundreds of hours watching his dad play video games and watching tv curled up with his mom and his brother and eventually even Pippin. Jasper was a kind, sweet, wonderful cat.

And tried to make friends. After his new strange baby housemate Pippin moved in, he became a reluctant mentor who taught baby Pippin how to cat (even when he didn't want to). A lifelong resident of the greater DMV metro area, Jasper loved to play and he loved to eat.

Jasper Finneas Mertekitty was born in Maryland right around the Fourth of July in 2014 to his mother India with his littermate Marius. As a young cat, Jasper was curious, playful, and ever present. He loved to cuddle and groom with his brother. After his housemate Sabrina moved in, he was uncertain

I had no idea Donald Glover wrote for 30 Rock!! What a wild world. Also would be very funny for 30 Rock (NBC) to be referencing LOST (ABC), but it's not unheard of, what with Dwight specifically talking about the warehouse staff being like the Others from LOST
