LOL Excuse me, what?
Starship Troopers explores themes including patriotism, authoritarianism, militarism, colonialism, and xenophobia.[n] Verhoeven interpreted Heinlein's novel as fascistic, nationalistic, totalitarian, and in favor of military rule, something antithetical to the director's own wartime experiences, and used Starship Troopers to deconstruct and undermine these themes.[o] Iconography inspired by the German Nazi regime and Italian National Fascist Party appear throughout Starship Troopers as symbols of the United Citizen Federation (UCF). The UCF flag, bearing an eagle, resembles the Nazi coat of arms; officer uniforms are similar to those worn by the Nazi secret police—the Gestapo—including the insignia, and the symbol on infantry uniforms references Benito Mussolini's Blackshirts.[21][25] Neumeier said the Nazi uniforms were used, in part, because the Nazi outfits looked good, but Verhoeven also wanted to use that aesthetic in "an artistic way".[178] Although some contemporary critics and audiences considered Starship Troopers to be an endorsement of fascism, Verhoeven said, "whenever you see something that you think is fascist, you should know that the filmmakers agree with your opinion".[21][179] Other aspects of the Nazi regime influence Starship Troopers, from the architecture of Albert Speer,[25][178] to propaganda films such as Olympia. The first scene of Starship Troopers, an advertisement for the Mobile Infantry, emulates scenes from Triumph of the Will and references a line of dialogue, "I'm doing my part!"[p]

Twins first baseman Kent Hrbek drove in three runs on Aug. 11, 1994, the final game he ever played.

"I had announced my retirement earlier that season, so instead of playing my last game at the end of September, it was the middle of August," Hrbek said. "There wasn't sadness for me. When the season was canceled, I took the cup that I wore all those years, grabbed a hammer and nailed it to the wall in my garage. My cup is still nailed to that wall."

From the same director that brought you...
Annie is a 2014 American musical comedy drama film directed by Will Gluck, from a screenplay he co-wrote with Aline Brosh McKenna. Produced by Village Roadshow Pictures, Overbrook Entertainment, Marcy Media Films, and Olive Bridge Entertainment, and distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing through its Columbia Pictures label, it is a contemporary film adaptation of Charles Strouse, Martin Charnin, and Thomas Meehan's 1977 Broadway musical of the same name (which in turn is based on the comic strip Little Orphan Annie by Harold Gray). The film shifts the setting from the Great Depression to the present day and is the second remake and the third film adaptation of the musical, following the 1982 theatrical film starring Carol Burnett and Albert Finney, and the 1999 television film starring Kathy Bates and Victor Garber. The revival film stars Quvenzhané Wallis in the title role, alongside Jamie Foxx, Rose Byrne, Byrne's real life husband Bobby Cannavale, and Cameron Diaz. Annie began production in August 2013 and, following its premiere at the Ziegfeld Theatre in New York City on December 7, 2014, it was released theatrically in the United States on December 19, 2014.

Maybe lead with the fact that DHS PROVIDES NO FUCKING EVIDENCE.
The press release, which did not say whether there was any evidence of actual voting by non-citizens or explain how DHS reached its finding, was circulated inside the agency ahead of Trump’s planned prime time speech in which he had promised to reveal “really big news” on election security.

Democrats and state elections officials are bracing for the possibility that Trump will use the speech to advance his false claims that the 2020 election was stolen amid reports the White House is weighing the declassification of intelligence on vulnerabilities in U.S. voting infrastructure, and Chinese influence peddling in 2020.

The draft press release states that “reviews of the four states’ records” found 190,832 noncitizens registered in California; 35,152 in New Jersey; 15,903 in Nevada; and 14,576 in Pennsylvania. It does not indicate that DHS found evidence that non-citizens cast ballots or explain how it reached a number that appears to be higher than previous reviews have found.

@kenklippenstein.bsky.social Deeply disappointing to read this. 👎
I stand by my previous defense of Platner. Offensive tattoos and sexting-out-of-wedlock struck me as the most Marine shit ever. I literally know Marines who’ve done both but later grew up and became decent guys. (Hi if you’re reading this!) I still believe in my bones that people like that deserve to have a shot at public office and that our country would be better for it. But the Marines I’m describing were never accused of more serious things like sexual assault.

Yeah, he definitely posts on the other site.
Pollard is an advocate of market-based public service reforms.[25] He believes that "the state has no business running schools or hospitals"[26] and "I object to the fact I have to pay for [the BBC]".[1] He has advocated the introduction of medical co-payments for the National Health Service and the introduction of a flat tax.[25][27] He expressed support for Chancellor George Osborne's decision to limit child benefits, writing that "welfare is thought of as an entitlement, so that those who choose not to work to support themselves can rely on the rest of us to pay their way."[28] He has praised Rupert Murdoch as "a man who has done more to democratise news, sport and leisure than any of his opponents."[29]

Pollard supported Brexit and praised the Conservative Party's 2019 manifesto.[30][31]

Pollard was a signatory founder of the Henry Jackson Society, a neoconservative British foreign policy think tank.[32][33]

Pollard says that he began to think about Judaism seriously and to feel loyalty to Israel in his mid-thirties.[1] Pollard has called Amnesty International a "woke joke" and accused them of allying with "groups that lionise Islamist terrorists."[34] He has also written that "Amnesty is a worthless, morally bankrupt sham that gives succour to terrorist states."[35]

Pollard supported the 2003 invasion of Iraq, while acknowledging failures in reconstruction,[36][37] and called the Stop the War Coalition "traitors", saying that their opposition to the invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan equated to supporting dictators.[38]

"Shut up, ladies!"
“God created men for a purpose, they’re providers and protectors,” said Marcy Lyon, 55, who was volunteering with her teenage daughter. “When they get together and bond, it helps them stand up.”

A small pergola on the top of the hill was set aside as a women-only listening area for volunteers. A whiteboard read in looping script: “Ladies — please be considerate and enjoy this space quietly. We want to minimize distractions so our men can listen.”
