The Japanese website section on battling Space Ninjas says "You'll traverse a complex, interwoven alternate dimension, engaging in a one-on-one battle of eat or be eaten against the Space Ninja, who wields a variety of weapons." I guess they each have their own (interdimensional) EMMI zones?

Yeah I was listening for that too, although I still wouldn't totally rule it out as Chozo since we might have only been hearing the unknown words

On the other hand, maybe now we get to learn how to speak Space Ninja

Chozo 🤝 Lamorn Using an unknown word that's only translated as "planet" ("world" in Lamorn is "usan", but Chatoya asks Samus to plant the Memory Fruit in/on a new "taran")

Yep, that does appear to be the source. Their Facebook page has been churning out a variety of misleading slop ads for the game, but uploading them as unlisted so they don't appear on the page itself. There are plenty here if you want a laugh: www.google.com/search?q=fou...

Oh, also, you may wanna check out the Metroid Prime Modding Discord, I believe the user tachy_bunker has already compiled a mapping of CSMP IDs to music tracks. discord.gg/GUxe65Av8G

Hi! vgmstream has also been recently updated, the PR adding support for Prime 4's CSMP format was merged only 4 days ago. I grabbed the most recent foobar2000 plugin from vgmstream.org and was able to play/convert MP4's audio with that.

Yeah it's a real shame they didn't keep some of these in- IMO the Base Camp interactions were one of the highlights of the game's writing, it's wild that they cut literally 75% of it lmao

Soooo I found over 30 minutes of unused dialogue in MP4 Some really neat details in there, like the names of Duke's family, VUE-995's orders before the UTO raid, and the name of Tokabi's gun. Also a bunch of premium Armstrong content www.youtube.com/watch?v=zXkX...

IMO MP4 handles beam ammo a lot better than MP2, it feels like a resource to be spent/conserved instead of a fundamental aspect of combat made arbitrarily limited. Whatever complaints I have about other aspects of MP4, it feels like the most polished combat in the series.

Update: @bearborg.bsky.social reconstructed Miles' face to show what she would have looked like! Maybe they intended to reveal this in the credits like Samus in the first Metroid?

Telltale Borderlands is definitely one of their best, which makes it extra funny that it's the only well-written piece of Borderlands media ever made

I was psyched for this too, and then in the process of updating the English wiki I realized the Japanese wiki has had this name the whole time 😭 Apparently the Japanese Dread guide has a bestiary with actual names for most enemies

Really fascinating interview, thanks for sharing this! Had to laugh a little when the discussion of playable Space Pirates in multiplayer came up, and you quickly added that there was never art for it; the MP2 Demo Disc has this unused arm model in it, but I never knew what it was for until now!

Please watch Scavengers Reign if you can. I know that this sci-fi show is only available in very few countries on Max and Netflix. I know there's no Blu-ray. I know it's all stupid. But watch it.

The part that really got me was the closing hero shot of the console, with the small print label "vertical stand sold separately".

The first two episodes had me thinking this might be a rare middle-of-the-road piece of Star Wars content that's just pleasantly competent, but Episode 3 crushed those hopes for me. This, Ahsoka, and Kenobi all feel like they lack any passion for storytelling. Mind-numbingly rote.

Scavengers Reign (2023) is now available on Netflix (at least, in the US & UK). Please watch this beautiful, weird, frightening, fresh, poetic, fascinating sci-fi masterpiece. We have the power to collectively spawn a Season 2.🖖

MGS 3 actually does this, if you spin Snake too much he'll vomit in-game. IIRC it has mechanical usefulness too, you can use it to avoid debuffs from eating spoiled food.
