Sometimes they did talk to him. He even understood some of them, sometimes, especially when they seemed to be signaling him by tapping his body- lift his arms, open his mouth, flick his tail. One of Minho's assistants fed him when he complied, too, so he was incentivized to learn what they wanted quickly.

The best thing about being with the humans, honestly? The food. They fed him as much as he could eat, and he could eat a lot. Regular meals that he wasn't hunting himself, in larger portions than his pod, wonderful as they were, could provide? He was going to get home with a sizable layer of fat, enough to sustain him for the rest of his pregnancy.

He was going to get home, right? He had to.

He just had to figure out a way out of this human place. Somehow. And then he had to actually escape. Somehow. Or maybe he could convince Minho to take him home... somehow.
