I've been wrestling with that lately too. What I did for my current WIP is split it up into smaller, more coherent sections. Even if the sections don't really have overlap, it seemed to help based on what beta readers have told me

I shopped this essay for probably about six months from the time I finished it late last year. I aimed at some high places for sure (The Rumpus and welter come quickly to mind). But I couldn't have asked for a better home. Issue one blew me away with the names of heavy hitters in the Magic space...
