Was volunteering at the @thelowtherpavilion.bsky.social last night during the sellout Milton Jones show, I ended up having to go out in the pouring rain and see off some idiot who was fishing in the pond in our gardens. Not a casual fisher, he’d a rod, landing net and the full kit. Cheeky bugger.

Woke up a bit later this morning, so nothing done yet. Got a music lesson at 10:00, so hope I can write something after lunch. By 6:30am yesterday I'd written 1,000 words, so that's a target to aim for at least. Discipline, that's what I need.

YES THIS HAPPENED. Also in a general sense if ASL interpreters are working one of my events and there is time, I try to give them access to any prepared materials and generally go over things that I suspect will present an issue for them. The idea they're not needed or useful is shitty ableist BS.

Badly. I get frustrated and sit in coffee shops trying to break the deadlock. It was entirely due to inadequate plotting during novel 1, which stranded me a few times. It won't happen for 2. #pretendpanel #writingcommunity #writersky #speclit #timetravelauthors #authors #sff #thrillerwriters

Imagine watching disaster movies like The Day After Tomorrow or 2012 and thinking that the apocalyptic weather scenes were the “unrealistic” part. Turns out those scenes were almost bang on. The unrealistic part was the humans working together to overcome the problem & save the world. Sigh.

Probably the greatest ever TV horror series on British television was Quatermass and the Pit. I can still see scenes from that just by closing my eyes.

I was sorting through some old files this morning and stumbled on a 27,000 word opening for a thriller that for some reason I put aside three years ago. I've been re-reading it and I'm beginning to think I should put away what I was now doing and go back to the old one. Advice welcome.
