Isaias is expected to strengthen and be a strong hurricane when it approaches the northern Gulf Coast on Friday. A life-threatening storm surge is expected along a portion of the northern Gulf Coast, and a Storm Surge Warning is now in effect. Residents should follow advice given by local officials.
National Hurricane Center forecast for Tropical Storm Isaias, issued October 7, 2026, at 10 PM CDT. Isaias has maximum sustained winds of 70 mph and is moving east-northeast at 9 mph. The storm is forecast to strengthen into a hurricane before approaching the northern Gulf Coast Friday evening, with its center potentially moving inland across Mississippi and Alabama Saturday. Hurricane warnings are in effect along portions of the northern Gulf Coast. The cone represents the probable path of the storm's center, not the extent of hazardous conditions.National Hurricane Center map showing forecast peak storm surge from Tropical Storm Isaias along the northern Gulf Coast. Storm surge of 5–7 feet above ground level is forecast from Ocean Springs, Mississippi, through Mobile Bay, Alabama, to Indian Pass, Florida. Surrounding coastal areas could experience 3–5 feet near southeastern Louisiana, 4–6 feet east of Indian Pass to the Steinhatchee River, and generally 1–3 feet along portions of coastal Louisiana and the Florida Big Bend. Forecast values represent water heights above normally dry ground.

If you live on portions of the northern Gulf coast highlighted here, winds are forecast to be high enough to make further preparations for Isaias impossible by Friday. Do you have an evacuation plan? Is your home ready? Prepare now. www.weather.gov/safety/hurri...
National Hurricane Center map showing the earliest reasonable arrival times of tropical-storm-force winds from Tropical Storm Isaias, as of October 7, 2026. Tropical-storm-force winds could reach the southern Gulf of Mexico Wednesday evening, spread northeast across the central Gulf Thursday, and reach portions of the northern Gulf Coast from Louisiana to the Florida Panhandle as early as Friday morning. Areas farther inland across Mississippi and Alabama could experience these winds by Friday evening. Colors indicate the probability of sustained winds of at least 39 mph, with the highest probabilities concentrated along the storm's projected path.
