As someone who shot film in the “before” days and traveled for work I feel your pain. It’s so much easier to pack a digital camera and not have to deal with a few ziplocks full of film. And don’t get me started with ISO 800 film and TSA agents. On vacation? No thanks.

Checking back on the nest on Sunday. I’ve photographed caracara on SR 70 on the way to the east coast.

Some of us have lives and it might take 30 or 40 mins to get back to you. Hire me because of my work. Hire me because I’ve got 25 years experience as a journalist. Not because I was able to respond within 30 secs of receiving an email. This has been an ongoing issue for 20 years. Be better.

Photo editors who treat photographers as a solution to their problem of having an assignment suck. It’s super shitty for a photo ed to contact several photographers because they live in proximity to the assignment and then give the job to the first person who responds like they won a prize.

I’ve photographed Mynas in the Tampa Bay Area. Pretty sure they were someone’s pets that got loose but that’s all it takes for an invasive bird to get a foothold and start reproducing.

I nuked my FB and Instagram is now simply a portfolio presence. I deleted the phone app and I no longer engage with anyone when I do log in from a desktop. Unfortunately, that doesn’t matter because Gen Z isn’t logging off and TikTok is more popular than ever. We’re cooked as the kids say.

We had this with A Photo a Day in the early 2000’s. It was the largest community of PJ’s sharing and critiquing images on the internet. We got so big we started meeting in person once a year. Social media killed it. We tried restarting it a few years ago and there was very little interest.

Same. One trick when leaving voicemails is press the # key at the end of recording and many times you’ll get a menu allowing you to review your VM or erase it and start from scratch.
