It's really important to realize that the people who got us here are going to try to cut and run. It is imperative they are held to account and not be allowed back in to range of power.

Tim Chapman posts on X - I loved my time at Heritage Action and was proud to be the co-founder of what was such an important part of the conservative movement, so I say this with respect and sadness:

There is nothing conservative about backing threats to a state's federal funding because it declines to push a President's own political agenda - that is unconcstitutional and coercive to states.

Some ideas worth considering

Daughter of MLK and Coretta Scott King posted this advise as the next 6 months are going to "get Real."

1. Don't use his name; EVER (47 will do)
2. Remember this is a regime and he is not acting alone
3. Don't argue with those who support him - it doesn't work
4. Focus on his POLICIES, not his orangeness or mental state
5. Keep your message positive; they want the country to be angry and fearful because that is the soil from which their darkest policies grow;
6. No more helpless/hopeless talk;
7. Support artists and the arts;
8. Be careful not to spread fake news. Check it;
9 Take care of yourself; And
10, Resist!
When you post or talk about him, don't assign his actions to him. Assign them to "The Republican Administration," or "The Republicans". This will have sevearl effects: the Republican legislators will either have to take responsibility for their association with him or stand up for what some of them don't like; he will not get the focus and attention he craves.

The notch is what makes the disk writable. Disks came with little stickers so that you could cover the notch to prevent accidental overwrites. Enterprising folks realized the other side also had magnetic substrate. Specialized punches made a second notch so disk could be flipped over and used

Dialing the local college on our rotary phone, listening for the tone, and then quickly slamming the handset into the acoustic coupler for the modem.

An old rotary dial phone and handset from before Bell Telephone was broken up. The handset is off of the hook and placed into an acoustic coupler, a device that would capture the analog sounds used to encode the data so that it could be translated back to digital data.

Thew transfer was slow enough that you could watch the terminal write each new character to the terminal.
