I think, maybe we should WANT Bluesky to be different from Twitter. I say this as someone who has done my fair share of dunking: I never lead a harassment campaign against anyone - but I have been on the receiving end of em. Ratio culture is super toxic. Why do we want to preserve it??

A big selling point of Atproto is that your platform experience doesn't have to revolve around Bluesky's user base. But FWIW this is a problem with every platform, to differing extents. Especially when there is an outsized number of certain voices as opposed to others. Widespread adoption is key.

I was reading an author recently talking about how we don't appreciate the way that email isn't siloed. That is, you don't have to be in gmail to talk to someone else in gmail. The norm is so powerful, it'd be unthinkable to change it. All email is interoperable. Social media could've been this way.

@heron.tunji.dev actually displays a writing tab + a button to view a user's longform content (example using @pckt.blog). This allows you to see both documents AND a list of publications. This is something @bsky.app needs to adopt, so we can truly allow competition against Substack's network effect.
