Publicly, NMJ says the Jason Stathem movies. In private, he can quote every line of the Disney Princess movies, and the Princess Diaries. LXC says that he doesn't have time, but has a sneaking fondness for kid adventure movies he'd watch with his brother. Plus any movie the mom ends up alive.

I think it's tone deaf, but it also has a lot of what we also see in that section, where the Lan are also a business and LXC is treating it as a job interview. The "If he can't handle this." bit, which blew up in his face when it turned out there was a lot of relationships he didn't know.

Not one of my favorites, but interesting enough Jiang Family redemption. I do think there's a bit of handwaving involved, but there is an inciting event and reactions to that.(That said, I'm also a sucker for good Jiang siblings and have tons of those too.)

I feel weird because I usually only do one bookmark per author, even those I love, because I use them as a "I want to reread this later." list. (I'm pretty sure all mine were public, regardless. I've gotten so many good fics from trawling through other people's bookmarks.)

I think a lot of it is, more then most, he's a very black box character! We see several of his actions, but we don't get any real glimpses into his motivations. And his actions are all over the place(especially the baffling one to go negotiate with WRH about the swords.).

I think the easiest way is to remove "WWX is a threat to her children" from the equation, because 90% of the issue is that. I've seen a lot of different ways that can be done, so I trust whatever you come up will be awesome.(Seriously, so many ways, it's kind of sad)

I mean, the issue with JYL is that they spend a lot of time together, not always in public. Which is absolutely fine for a brother! But yeah, the problem is the uncertainty. I won't say never, it's just an uphill climb! And yeah, ward would have solved...75% of the issues, maybe.

And then we get the other side of it, where the uncertainty threatens JYL's reputation and chances. Which we also see in the book. Which is why I think it's easy to move things so she's not the bad guy(and why I find it correspondingly hard to buy good guy JFM without more work).

I mean, the issue is, Jiang Fengmian *did* threaten her children with what he did with Wei Wuxian. There is actually a fire there, under the smoke. Here's where one of the parallels with JGY comes in, we're shown that it happens, and JFM was a lot more positive with WWX then JGS was of JGY.

Commission piece about a tormented bride. Always happy when I'm allowed to draw skeletons 🖤
