Jamie Baumgart @baumgart3343.bsky.social · 29/06/2025Your mother was an amazing woman. My son was in her class at Barton, and she is very much missed. She even gave him her old rollerblades. Jamie Baumgart @baumgart3343.bsky.social · 08/02/2025I do. His good trouble is sorely missed right about now. 030
Jamie Baumgart @baumgart3343.bsky.social · 07/02/2025We definitely agree about most issues. Leaving a building unprotected by quitting doesn’t help either though. The guard is in a bad situation and that’s pretty unfair to him. I didn’t mean you disparaged, but the internet in general. The guy is the lowest on the totem pole now in the spotlight. 010
Jamie Baumgart @baumgart3343.bsky.social · 07/02/2025To clarify - if Elon Musk showed up at the door without proper clearance and the guard did anything other than keep him out, that would be wrong. If he showed up with clearance and the guard decided to make a stand and stop him, how would quitting help? He’d literally just leave the site unprotected 010
Jamie Baumgart @baumgart3343.bsky.social · 07/02/2025I wouldn’t expect someone to give up their job for a photo op by a senator who literally authorizes the funding that pays for the guard. The guard being there was not a surprise to the senator. The senator being there was a surprise for the guard. The guard did what the protective service does. 010
Jamie Baumgart @baumgart3343.bsky.social · 07/02/2025The position is. Not the person. I have no doubt given the opportunity many guards would side with Trump. But unless we have specific knowledge that this specific guard let in someone who didn’t have access granted, then there’s no need to disparage the individual. 100
Jamie Baumgart @baumgart3343.bsky.social · 07/02/2025And I’m all for good trouble. John Lewis would be proud. However, the senator knows that these guards have been protecting these buildings and following access rules under all administrations for a long time. Expecting anything other than being stopped at the door would be crazy. 100
Jamie Baumgart @baumgart3343.bsky.social · 07/02/2025If he had allowed in people who don’t have access to the building, he would have been fired. For a photo op by a senator. I’m totally on your side when it comes to right and wrong of the various people in power. However, this guard shouldn’t suffer because of it. He’s non-partisan building security 100
Jamie Baumgart @baumgart3343.bsky.social · 07/02/2025I agree if the guard is able to know the intentions of each people entering a federal building. But they can’t. If someone has a federal access card for that building, the guard doesn’t know their job, political affiliation, etc. Whoever issued the minions access is responsible for this. 010
Jamie Baumgart @baumgart3343.bsky.social · 07/02/2025Oh i absolutely agree. Im only defending the guard who doesn’t get to do more than check access permissions and act based on that. If they have been granted access, there’s literally nothing the guard could do. I’m glad the senator tried this. Blame Trump and musk not the guard is all I’m saying. 110
Jamie Baumgart @baumgart3343.bsky.social · 07/02/2025As president (ugh!) Trump can grant clearance to anyone he wants. That’s my point. We don’t know if he’s done that. But that guard would have to check if they’ve been authorized to have access and act accordingly. 010
Jamie Baumgart @baumgart3343.bsky.social · 07/02/2025In fact usually when members of congress are going to federal buildings they’re not usually in, the guards typically have hours and/or days of notice and information from FPS. Visits from congress to executive branch buildings is not a normal everyday occurrence. 110
Jamie Baumgart @baumgart3343.bsky.social · 07/02/2025The coup happens by the powers that be granting access and clearance to the wrong people. The guard does not make those decisions. The guard checks if the person has been granted it by the federal government. That’s it. 100
Jamie Baumgart @baumgart3343.bsky.social · 07/02/2025The guards do not get to decide who is granted access by the federal government. They can only check to see if the person has access and let them in or not accordingly. 000
