I think you shouldn't be obligated to forgive someone before they've earned that forgiveness. You should forgive someone because you feel they understand what they did and have committed real time and effort to change and ensuring it wont happen again.

The christian message of forgiveness above everything is an excellent control measure to protect people and establishments that repeatedly wrong people. One quick apology and a victim is socially obligated and pressured into forgiving those that have wronged them and looked down on if they dont.

Apologies are worthless if not backed by action. His apology felt scripted, insincere and self serving. The hatred is because people feel very strongly about the genocide being committed by Israel and Ed siding with perpetrators of said genocide.
