quick correction here, they didn't patch SD models for sky elves in yet but it IS in development

pretty sure they have an entirely separate team on this and are funneling as many resources as possible here because the player and twitch numbers for BETA have not been this big since classic, or ever, really

i have some theories as to why that is but i'm just so dumb-founded with the fact that these devs are actually.. listening??? and being open to feedback and iterating on it (for the most part) ? unbelievable

whereas people have been asking for blood elf appearance updates among other things for actual years prior to midnight especially and it never happened

it's only been like a few days ago that i've seen people asking for SD toggles for racial portraits and sky elf character models in wow forever and they've patched those in like near immediately lol

i'm glad that wow forever exists now and is not my beautiful fantasy of what-could've-been anymore because the core design philosophy behind retail is IMO not that fun and good for that to be the game i predominantly play
