Did the multiple, uncoordinated efforts to create such transfers trip over each other's feet and create the very problem to be addressed? (source of chart not verified, probably pre-2014 since that's when PA's Dept. of Public Welfare was renamed to Dept. of Human Services)
Stacked bar chart of post-tax income and various poverty alleviation transfers. Because several of them abruptly cut off at various incomes, and because they have not been planned together, a model single mother is financially better off earning $29,000 than any amount between $30,000 and $70,000; and earning $45-50,000, just above the threshold for childcare benefits, is on paper worse off than only other possible position (on paper slightly worse than outright $0).

Um, no? Modern buses don't have a rigid axle connecting their rear wheels. There may be a sloped bump between the rear wheels, but there isn't a step. And their rearmost door is behind the rear wheels anyway.

Well then. It seems like the problem is not "no light rail can possibly do" but that a feature inappropriately borrowed from *intercity* *heavy* rail is a bad fit for urban transit.
