South Korea's UBI pilot shows major success 1 year. Local businesses grew by 2,000 and rural population went up 4.7%. Most of the money was spent, causing "an increase in new businesses in essential services such as restaurants, cafes, supermarkets, and hair and beauty salons."
Article reporting rural basic income increased local businesses including restaurants, cafés, supermarkets and salons.

Ok, here we go. Provincially: Make both basic income and disability rates an voting issue. The BC Greens are the ones to have consistently stood for basic income. The NDP came up with an intentionally bias "report" on agreement to look at it for the Greens only to intentionally swat it aside.
"We’re looking into the possibility of a living wage or universal basic income, because this is particularly relevant with the rise of AI potentially wiping out massive amounts of white-collar jobs in unexpected ways.”

“This is something that has been pursued in Ireland and Scotland and has been incredibly successful in contributing to their arts, culture, and overall national productivity.”

Basic income isn't about rewarding unemployment.

It's about making sure that having a job, losing a job, studying, caregiving or facing a major life change doesn't determine whether you can afford to live. Everyone deserved a financial floor.

You don't need to be unemployed to need financial security.

Life is unpredictable.

A basic income gives people something to fall back on when circumstances change.

One slow month, canceled contract, or unexpected expense can create a huge financial setback.
