Software Vulnerabilities as Cognitive Blindspots; Assessing the Suitability of a Dual Processing Theory of Decision Making for Secure Coding | ACM Transactions on Software Engineering and Methodology
Software vulnerabilities are present in many software systems, putting people who entrust software with their data in harm's way. Many vulnerabilities are avoidable since they are well documented - yet they remain widespread. One explanation for their ...

A tapestry of responsibility
The etymology of responsibility, from the Latin spondere, is “to promise" or "to pledge”. Embedded in it is another important meaning: respondere, “to answer” or “to respond”.

The most fulfilling part of receiving the Harlan D Mills award at #icse2025 yesterday was the opportunity to acknowledge my collaborators over many years. And the most enjoyable part was celebrating with lovely colleagues. Very grateful to IEEE Computer Society for the honour @icseconf.bsky.social

True, it is only partly asynchronous - we gossip about people when they’re not there 🫣 It is sad that many places have lost the physical spaces in which face-to-face conversations take place. But of course online platforms and tools have given us an opportunity to be more inclusive.

Agreed. Domain specific languages have a very important role to play in the bridging between problem and solution. What is perhaps even more important is the relationship between domain properties (such as domain events and structures) and designed properties of the ‘solution machine’.

Interesting piece, @mccjpt.bsky.social. Thanks for writing it. Domain descriptions have been central to requirements engineering for decades, and a challenge is to relate such descriptions to the solutions that developers need to produce.
