Usually means it got near something that had NFC. Whatever that was probably was simply set to that string for some reason. Could be another device, a credit card, some smart home or network device that supports NFC, etc.

They do, that and Reddit are probably their main social. They have @linusmediagroup.com . But they don’t put a lot of work into more the the “popular” social accounts. Some of their employees do have Bluesky (and rare Mastodon users).

Linus Tech Tips (aka Linus Media Group) is one of oldest and largest tech-focused YouTube channels turn media and product company. The guy making the comment is Linus, who started it all. They’re Canadian so in don’t expect Luke (the other guy) to get the reference. But LMG needs to figure this out.

(Cont.) It’s obvious they quickly realized it was in incredible poor taste and muted that part of the VOD everywhere (in including Spotify). Still, I felt like I had to say something. I emailed their info@ address (screenshots with alt text).

Part 1 of screenshot reads: “I finally got caught up on the latest WAN show (I always watch late), and the VOD had a muted section (around 1:20:30), which I later read comments that it was Linus making a comment to a body on the ground in HL2, in which references Alex Pretti. It's very obvious that internally at LMG it was recognized as poor taste, leading to the muted section of the VOD. I found and listened to a recording of that section to ensure I was hearing it first-hand and not just hearsay. I gotta say, as a Minnesotan, I am extremely disturbed and saddened that such a comment would be made. These killings happened local to me. The terrorizing of those in the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area (and in many other cities across the US), immigrants, minorities, and everyone else alike, cannot be dismissed. I personally know or work(ed) with people who were harassed, detained, or deported. And it's not over. We still carry whistles, we still respond to observe the actions of our government and safeguard others, PEOPLE, human lives, to the best of our ability. To have such poor taste comments being made of that nature... well I frankly don't have the proper words.These are lives we're talking about, that have been disrupted, destroyed, or taken. Please remember that when making insane comments like that. What's going on in my state and country is not a video game. I sincerely hope LMG leadership does some serious reflection over this. “

Part 2 of screenshot reads: “I'm not a "whale", but I have spent probably close to or over $1000 via the LTT Store over the years (backpacks, hoodies, 3 or 4 bottles, you name it). I enjoyed my Floatplane membership (being grandfathered from the forum days and eventually going to a full priced membership). And hopefully my YT Premium did something (because I still weirdly watched mostly on YT). But honestly, I think that's where I have to end it. I enjoyed the products (they were solid for the most part). Hell, I even made use of the LTT backpack's loops to hold one of my whistles for easy access (video attached of that, also showing the meshtastic device I also carried around). But there have been some heightened out-of-touch trends from the LMG content and leadership as of late. I do wish the team all the best, but I think this is where I need to walk away from LMG content for a bit. I apologize for the poor writing tonight, and hope my thoughts were clear enough. I just had to say something.

My advice for the week: Make sure to have a way to deal with lithium ion batteries. Especially if you use them with a hobby or have devices that allow you to swap them. My @steelseries.com headset batteries started to go big. The good news is, the replacement batteries arrived quickly.
