This was an interesting survey from Lance Brozdowski back in March, highlighting the best teams at pitching development and acquisition. You can probably spot a trend here. Four of the top perceived teams in this area are the remaining teams in the playoffs.

The Giants traded most of their expiring contracts at the deadline. JT Brubaker was the lone exception. Below is their total 2026 AAV for each player, which the Giants pitched in some cash to facilitate those deals. In total, they have close to $50M coming off the box...

Looks like Dakota Jordan and Kaeden Kent are slated to play today from the Giants in the season opener for Scottsdale.

There are several non-tender candidates in this amount, and the pre-arbitration amount is a rough estimate. No one knows what the CBT will look like in 2027 or if they move to a hard cap. That said, this is where the Giants will start the offseason in terms of AAV.

It was a weird year for Matt Chapman, but despite missing half the season, some defensive metrics loved his work. Both DRS and the SABR Defensive Index (SDI) had him at the top of his position.

Jonah Cox's 74.2% zone contact rate is the third-lowest among hitters with at least 150 plate appearances. Not surprisingly, the players listed here have some of the highest strikeout rates, ranging from 32.4% to 41.8%

Duncan Davitt's four-seamer does not overwhelm with velocity or carry, but it still has some interesting pitch shape characteristics. He probably would benefit from streamlining his pitch mix, but he may have at least one quality pitch to lean on.

Pitching in the minors might be tough to evaluate this year based on numbers alone. Home runs have surged pretty much across every level in 2026 due to the change in the baseball. Thought it would be an interesting breakdown to see how home run rates have shifted among Giants...

Bryce Eldridge is not only excelling in matchups against left-handed pitching, he is near the top of that list. His 144 wRC+ is tied for 6th (Min. 100 PA) among left-handed hitters against left-handed pitching in 2026.

The Giants have seen a pretty steady decline in average attendance by month. Not surprisingly, March (40.6K) is often a high traffic month due to the excitement from the start of the year. So far in September, they are averaging 27K in attendance in only 3 home games. I would...

Cool update from former Giants minor leaguer Andrew Kachel, who now runs his own hitting program. I came across a post from him on LinkedIn, and saw this as well. He also has a Youtube channel with cool videos on hitting. Played in 3 MiLB seasons with the org.

Rafael Devers is 23rd among active players with 268 career home runs. He is also the 2nd-youngest player on this list, and some of the players ahead of him either did not play in the majors this year or are at the end of the road. He should move up pretty quickly.

Kind of an interesting observation here: Rafael Devers has hit better at Oracle Park (128 wRC+) than on the road (115 wRC+) since the trade. The common assumption is that Oracle Park saps offensive production for left-handed bats, but that has not been the case for Devers.

Argenis Cayama has had a solid year for the San Jose Giants. He has an 11.5 K/9, 5.08 SO/W rate, and a 49.6% ground ball rate while still being one of the younger starters in Low-A. He has a pretty good feel for pitching considering his age (19).

The Giants leaned on Keaton Winn heavily earlier in the year, and to his credit, he was one of the more effective options. You can also pretty much draw a line in the sand for his 2026 season before and after he threw 3 days in a row.

In terms of slider/fastball usage, this is a path forward for Blade Tidwell. He has generally thrown his breaking ball for strikes more than his four-seamer. That was not exactly the case last night, but he got good results nonetheless.

Thought Carson Whisenhunt looked fine yesterday. You'd like to see his pitches miss more at-bats, but the changeup was effective against right-handed hitters, and the slider was functional against left-handed hitters. The fastball did not generate a whiff.

The Giants are 28th in baseball with a 4.84 rotation ERA. They have some pretty large unfavorable variances compared to FIP, so there is a case to be made that several of their pitchers have thrown better than their ERA would suggest.

Daniel Susac has 5 hits in the past 2 games against the Brewers, and 4 of them have been on attacking the first pitch when the pitcher is trying to steal a strike. That is one of the reasons he has been so good to start the year. It is not exit velo. It is not barrel rate...

Another solid outing for Carson Whisenhunt, who struck out 7 across 5 innings today. That fastball has played a lot better this 2026. That continued today, as he got 9 of his 15 whiffs with it. The four-seamer is getting more vertical movement, and seems to be locating it...

You can probably point to several year-over-year changes for Robbie Ray, but the four-seamer and slider are not as effective as they were last year. For the four-seamer, opposing hitters are making more and better contact. That is a pitch he throws nearly half of the time.
