is this film just a hilarious prank on me specifically nearly 14 minutes in the surprisingly abundant French dialogue is suddenly accompanied by yellow hard coded subs, which are obscured by the white on black "(speaks/in French)" soft subs

my face when the subtitles ignore anything but English and say something like "speaks French"
Robert De Niro speaking French in the 1998 film Ronin, which the subtitles unhelpfully render only as "(speaks French)".

Somewhat difficult to not think of this. "Knowledge of the city faded until 1963, when it was rediscovered after a resident of the area, while renovating his home, knocked through a basement wall and found a mysterious room behind it.", en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Derinku...

I actually can't stand how crass and violent music is now, so I only listen to wholesome music from the 60s.

On paper, Vibes (1988) is amazing. A romantic comedy starring Cyndi Lauper, Jeff Goldblum, Julian Sands, and Peter Falk? Already sold. With Falk as an excentric trying to hire psychics to find the Treasure of the Llanganatis? Ridiculous. Love it. Sadly the execution is neither romantic or comedic.

Are you listening to the new Elanor Moss album? If you love achingly beautiful music from softhearted British medievalists, this is destined to be your autumnal jam.

I have had Blink sitting unwatched for a full nine years and finally watched it. If Madeleine Stowe as a blind Celtic violinist struggling through "retroactive hallucinations" to help catch a serial killer of women sounds interesting, you will like me be wrong and disappointed.

Land and Freedom ends with her quoting a poem about the multi-generational fight for freedom, pouring over his coffin the Spanish soil her grandfather kept for decades, and joining his surviving friends in a raised fist salute. Did I see this as a child and cry so hard I couldn't breathe? MAYBE

I used a rain video to relax and now youtube thinks I want and perhaps need multiple 8-12 hour rain videos. This is logistically implausible, youtube.

I just finished X-Men '97 season 2 and am convinced more than ever that we are never getting an adapted version of Elizabeth Braddock that isn't embarrassing. Her backstory is rougher than the Punisher's and she is in a lesbian couple. Disney would never so all we get is the sexy Asian forever.
RUSSELL DAUTERMAN cover for Hellions #13, featuring many iterations of the costumes for the character Elizbeth "Betsy" Braddock over her 50 year history.

Easy Peasy I really am quite sneezy. The Spider-Woman (1944) - Gale Sondergaard as a genius villainess who kills men of vice in staged suicides. Spider Lillies (刺青, 2007) - Jade and Takeko are lovers separated by tragedy but bound by fate to find one another again.

Le Mépris (Contempt, 1963) A tale of the winnowing poison of male ego, the unsuitability of an artist so poisoned to adapt to film the poem The Odyssey, and the artistic compromises inherent to these propositions.
Poster by Laurent Durieu for the 1963 French film Le Mépris, featuring a woman gazing through a massive window at the Mediterranean. She lied naked and dispirited, as what was once love has turned into only contempt.

If you make Shorbet Adas (the classic lentil soup, made here with tomato and pepper pastes and Baharat in the Iraqi style.) in batches, you can ladle it over rice as soon as you return home feeling utterly depleted and defeated and still have a delicious filling meal.
