And also use AI to make AI like it but not AI enough that AI knows it's AI.

Introducing the Accessible Components Library - TetraLogical

We've open-sourced our Accessible Components Library, and, as you might expect, this includes the HTML, CSS, and JavaScript code. But, we thought, "Why stop there?" So, we've also published ...

If I was to compile a list of things ranked from 'excites me most' to 'excites me least', human-made music would be at one extreme and AI-made music would be at the other.

Maybe I'm out of touch, but I think that any job that has words like 'expertise', 'in depth' and 'proven' in the description should pay more than minimum wage.

I usually swerve empty titles — the prospect of sitting through a heap of ads to find out what a video is about puts me off. It also feels dishonest and erodes that feeling of quality and trust.

Defo been in the doldrums about it over the last year. In recent months, though, I've started to feel optimistic about some movement away from walled gardens back towards home-cooked, standards-based websites. It might be a smaller community, but I'm glad there is one!

I used to be inseparable from my MD recorder like people are with their phones now. Except it wasn't an abusive, co-dependent relationship.

Great to see the elephant in the room addressed! The 'brute-force' required by GenAI rarely seems to get mentioned, but it relies on an enormous amount of computing power for relatively trivial tasks that could be done better with simpler sw. It's a bit like using a space rocket to go to the shops.

I've noticed macOS Notes tries to autocomplete my words and it's totally off-putting. Gmail also forced this until I got rid of it. Instead of writing, I ended up on a side-quest to stop it. (You have to disable spelling and grammar checking.) Productivity tools indeed…

A good team name takes priority over squad selection, IMO. I'm kinda sad I had to shorten mine to fit the character limit, though — in an ideal world it would be 'The Groß, The Fab & Boscagli'.

I count myself really lucky to have seen The Rutles in Lewes a few months before Neil Innes passed away (with John 'Barry Wom' Halsey on drums, too!). Beatles-spoof, comedy and original stuff all delivered with enormous humour and terrific musicianship. Crowd and band had a ball!

People calling anything a podcast when it doesn't have an XML feed. "I get this onto my iPod how, exactly?"

I bought a couple — Gomez' Bring It On and Fun Lovin' Criminals' 100% Colombian to be precise! I liked the little cases they came in but they were more expensive than the equivalent CD so didn't really seem worth it. If iPods are having a revival, surely MD is next!

MiniDisc was the pinnacle, IMO! 💽 It got popular-ish when I was studying Music Tech and playing in my first band, so if I wasn't surgically setting track markers and jog-wheeling names for a fresh-copied new CD (player didn't have optical out), I was using it to record demos and jams with my mates!

No 'if' about it — it's an active boycott: "[…] so long as these proposals remain alive, unless this proposal has been abandoned in its entirety and binding assurances have been given that FIFA will never again open its governance or competitions to private ownership." www.uefa.com/news-media/n...

Love this! I could pull a dozen resonant quotes but this sums up my biggest frustration with the whole GenAI mess: "Not only did you make precisely nothing, you don’t even know what making something is." Far too many people failing to realise that it's not the destination, it's the journey.

The headline is misleading. The red card wasn't overturned; the one-game suspension was, er, suspended for 12 months. Basically "don't do it again or you'll be in trouble". Which is even more unusual.

"When most of your code is written by LLMs, hoping isn't a strategy. A design system has to become a set of decisions that are the only ones expressible." Perhaps one day we'll have a way to precisely tell computers what to do…

Yeah, I got excited for it a couple of years ago because it seemed like the closest thing I'd encountered to a GUI for HTML and CSS. Once I started using it, though, it just felt like I was typing with boxing gloves on for the benefit of a very limited CMS.

The Daddy-Long-Legs! You can still see the track foundations at low tide in a couple of places, and catch the Volks Railway (designed by the same bloke) along the Brighton seafront. Oldest functional electric railway in the World, I believe.
