Oh no! I hope it's temporary. Many of us could be accused of being abusive parents, especially by those who have never parented. We usually just try to do our best. Best wishes.

A great help for you. Rel with long covid has a Quickie, lightweight, foldable, battery operated. I hope your PEM subsides quickly.

But climate change IS a thing. Caused by burning fossil fuels. Stop extracting, selling and burning! Btw did you see footage of the Nepal glacier collapse? Caused by that thing.

Maggie @baroquepearl.bsky.social · 23/09/2026

The biggest global challenge is climate change. Caused by burning fossil fuels. Stop it!

Understood. That must've been infuriating.

My sympathies. Sounds like a communication problem (speaking as an Aged P). Need to define the task without ambiguity, explain the time and effort it will take etc. I sometimes muse or blab about something without realising people could take me seriously.

Am reading Going On and On, Why our longevity threatens the future, by Lucinda Holdforth. Us oldies need to let go. The PM and his fixer Farrell should hand over to very capable younger members who could replace the current stifling discipline. @albomp.bsky.social @jimchalmers.bsky.social

Good thinking. We've had one for a few years because close relative has long covid. New EV also has air purifier built into the aircon. Would've been useful in the black summer fires just before covid.

Also mentioned in the book The First Inventors How people shaped a continent by Billy Griffiths, Larissa Behrendt and Sean Ulm. TV series of the book now on NITV and SBS on demand.

Good idea. Is this only public schools or does it include private schools with taxpayer funding?

The First Inventors, Tuesday 8pm, NITV, is such a good series, showing some of the tens of thousands of years of First Nations knowledge. Not terra nullius.

Thanks for writing about this. Eldest grandson always needed plenty of notice as a child, hated surprises. Recently went on a weekend trip with him, now 31. Planned lunch stop was closed for a private function, very upsetting for him. He mostly manages really well, educated, married, good job.

@albomp.bsky.social Nepal glacier collapse. Blood on your hands, Prime Minister? How much more fossil fuel has been burnt with your approval?

Yes! Also pretty obvious who organised her departure from the SMH.

Well done, but we really need to stop extracting, burning, and exporting fossil fuels to have any impact on climate change, glacier collapse etc.

Farmer father in law grew wheat for 40 years, never used fertiliser, never made a loss. He wasn't a "greenie" but looked after his land and didn't try to take more than it could give. Please do some both sidesing on this issue.

Agree, many more trees especially in new developments, but need to be practical and sustainable. Daughter added small extension to house on small block. Needed to remove 5m callistemon, council "expert" insisted it be replaced with 12m eucalyptus planted 2m from house.

Dave, your piece could be titled How It All Stayed Wrong ... The most disappointing thing for me is that there was so much obvious stuff to fix but there's mostly just been tinkering, or making things worse. Approving more ff, ffs.

Is Labor stuck in their ways approving ever more fossil fuel projects? You do know burning fossil fuels causes climate change? Current European droughts are the result of deliberate government policy.
