Because of the potential to help more people move from micro-blogging to blogging, sure And once you figure that out, you can figure out more bridges from micro blogging to more types of related media that can be built to enrich the ATMosphere and spark the more-like-Reddit-than-twitter vision.

As someone who wrote the feature requests checklist when the WaPo newsroom moved from Moveable Type to Wordpress, I feel this. Deeply. Also, fwiw, I think this feature is a MASSIVE potential growth unlock for Bluesky and ATProto.

For @motherjones.com, I looked into how Meta could be using disabled people to promote its Meta glasses to the masses. As one expert told me, “companies have used accessibility...as a Trojan horse for a tool that poses significant privacy and security threats.” www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

Is Meta using disabled people to promote its glasses?
AI glasses are a double-edged sword for disabled people, who face unique risks from surveillance.

Just listened to your interview with @steveinskeep.bsky.social on NPR One. How perfectly public media to have the launch announcement double as an interview/preview. What an exciting announcement and great partnership. The public needs this kind of reporting! www.npr.org/2026/09/16/n...

This. All of this. Frankly the more interesting and human parts of the current internet are that thin social layer. Forums and comments and niche blogs. They’re just spread at the edges of the sludge of the current platform landscape.

With great lived experiences on the publisher side during the last 20 years (NYT, WaPo, NPR), we spent so much time wanting to get conversion (subscribe) after consumption on the article page. So I think the best transition to cards-in-feed would be more of a ‘follow’ of the publication/account.

I’ll add a corollary to the hopeful note he ends on. What the PIT crews are doing for civic participation and governance, the ATProto community can (and is!) doing for information ecosystems. And, frankly, civic participation.
