If you wonder why blue state rep Susan Collins would stand beside Trump in the oval holding a MAGA hat...this tells you why: Only 58% of *GOP* primary voters view her favorably. So she sucks up harder and harder to try to consolidate the base. But they're just not into you, Susan! #MEpolitics

Police have hundreds of reasons to stop drivers — reasons that are too often abused to target people of color and undermine Fourth Amendment freedoms. Traffic stops unrelated to road safety, for violations like tinted windows or an expired registration, are unnecessary and only breed police abuse.

Why Police Traffic Stops Are Dangerous and Ineffective | ACLU
Millions of drivers are pulled over every year for minor violations like broken taillights or tinted windows. Data shows these stops rarely make roads safer, and instead lead to racial disparities, violence, and loss of trust in police.

With 47 million people in the U.S. facing hunger, donating your extra or purchased dry and canned goods might seem like the best way to help your neighbors in need. But, the best way to support your local food bank is actually through donating money.

Here are four reasons why donating money over food helps more families in need:

Our statement on the Nov 4th elections.
press release from the Bangor Green Independent Committee in Bangor, Maine regarding the 2025 on elections on November 4. Partial text:
"The Bangor Green Independent Committee (BGIC) makes an unconventional move in unconventional times. Though no members of the BGIC stepped forward to run for office this year, the Committee believes it is its duty to still offer its endorsements in the local elections in Bangor this year. These endorsements are unsolicited, and have no expectation of acceptance, but they are offered all the same for the voters of Bangor. For the seats on the Bangor City Council, the BGIC supports the election of Angela Walker and Daniel Carson. For the seats on the School Board, the BGIC similarly endorses Mallory Cook and Laura Otis. While it is true that local races cannot steer national politics, Bangor cannot escape the truth that it is a community that exists within a democracy in the age of social media. It is a reality that cannot be pushed back into the bottle. It is our belief that the above candidates will excel in being adaptable and flexible to the changing winds that carry our small city along with the rest of the country. Bangor will need strong navigators in the coming years, particularly on the city council, which of late has been rudderless and focused on in-fighting over substance. The BGIC believes that the four candidates mentioned above are the future of such necessary leadership, and will be responsive to the needs of the community."
