Thanks! It's just a piece of printer paper, rolled up and covered in PVA glue so that it holds its shape. If you manipulate it while it's wet you can pretty easily get some nice folds and textures.

Yeah, I think every build I do hits that point sometime.

Haven't been good about taking WIP photos, but the Staghound is moving along. Built & painted a street base and did a rough painting pass on the figures. #histscalemodels

Decided I want to do a simple diorama for the Staghound, so I printed another crewman and a civilian woman. Sketched out basic ideas for a brick road and sidewalk. #histscalemodels

Staghound base painting and decals done. Tried to keep the colors somewhat varied so that it doesn't get too monotone after weathering. #histscalemodels

Stowage for the Staghound, some scratch-built crates and 3D printed ammo cans. Also printed out this crewman figure I found. Should be about ready to start on painting. #histscalemodels

Thanks! Yeah, I imagine the backblast alone would've been pretty wild.

I don't think the rocket mounting setup included in the kit ever existed, so I had to do some scratch building to match what was actually built. #histscalemodels

Seems like the actual plastic is nice so far, assembly is just a bit of a puzzle.

Back to #histscalemodels with this Staghound I've had sitting around for a while. Looks nice, but it's got to have some of the worst instructions.

A bit burnt out on the G.3, decided to try something new to me, a kitbashed spaceship. This was 3D printed off a design by @sublightdrive.bsky.social then covered with styrene sheet and a bunch of greeblies. #scalemodels

Stitching the upper wing together with 0.1mm wire. Also going to have to figure out a bigger photo backdrop, my current setup isn't going to fit this thing's wingspan. #histscalemodels #bastillebuild

One issue I have with the G.3 kit is they decided to mold the strut tapes as significantly raised details, when in reality the tape has basically no visible thickness. I think it will be best to sand them all off and paint them on later. #histscalemodels

Thanks! Wood painting is pretty straightforward for me, but the leather took a bit of work before I was happy with it.

Started on #BastilleBuild, cockpit parts ready for painting. Wasn't a fan of the kit's front seat look so I chopped it off, designed & printed a replacement. Not sure if I like the bare version or the cushion more, I'll paint them both and decide later. #histscalemodels

Thanks! That's just how it goes on that site sometimes, you don't pick up enough votes at the start and it just doesn't get pushed out to people.

Finished up the Tamiya Pak 38. A very nice little kit, lots of detail parts that are unfortunately difficult to show off once it's glued down onto a base. #histscalemodels

Yeah, the rigging can be a bit daunting, but using elastic line it shouldn't be too bad.

bandwevil @bandwevil.bsky.social · 02/05/2026
Yeah, the manual is very nicely laid out. Probably more than half of it is devoted just to rigging diagrams.

Not actually starting on #BastilleBuild yet as I have a PaK 38 to finish up first, but I did unbox all the sprues. Gonna be a big build, 1/48 Camel for scale. #histscalemodels

Thanks, it's Infini Model rigging. It's the 1/72 version because that's what I already had, so maybe a bit under scaled but I don't think it's too far off.

Finished up the Eduard Camel. Didn't intend for this to take up the better part of 4 months to build, but I'm happy with how it ended up. #histscalemodels

Details about Dragon's are sparse, but it's visible in the upper right of this image. Not exactly private, but I guess there's at least a curtain.

Thanks! It's a mix of Vallejo light brown and white, not sure on the ratio because I tend to mix until it feels right, but it's probably in the realm of 3 parts white to 1 part brown.

Looks good to me! The big advantage of oils is the flexibility, you can let them dry a bit and decide if you want the effect to be more pronounced/subtle, or even strip the entire thing and redo it.

Tried peeling the Eduard decal film for the first time, started off okay but got a lot of torn bits along the rib taping. Shouldn't be difficult to touch up those spots though, and I think the final look is worth it. Also printed out my own decal for the tail fin. #HistScaleModels

I made one from an electric fly swatter years ago, the handle looks extremely similar to the link you posted so I'm guessing it's basically the same thing. Works well for me.
