bandwevil @bandwevil.bsky.social · 30/09/2026Haven't been good about taking WIP photos, but the Staghound is moving along. Built & painted a street base and did a rough painting pass on the figures. #histscalemodels 0222
bandwevil @bandwevil.bsky.social · 18/09/2026Decided I want to do a simple diorama for the Staghound, so I printed another crewman and a civilian woman. Sketched out basic ideas for a brick road and sidewalk. #histscalemodels 0262
bandwevil @bandwevil.bsky.social · 15/09/2026Staghound base painting and decals done. Tried to keep the colors somewhat varied so that it doesn't get too monotone after weathering. #histscalemodels 1382
bandwevil @bandwevil.bsky.social · 05/09/2026Stowage for the Staghound, some scratch-built crates and 3D printed ammo cans. Also printed out this crewman figure I found. Should be about ready to start on painting. #histscalemodels 0221
bandwevil @bandwevil.bsky.social · 31/08/2026I don't think the rocket mounting setup included in the kit ever existed, so I had to do some scratch building to match what was actually built. #histscalemodels 1282
bandwevil @bandwevil.bsky.social · 24/08/2026Staghound basic assembly and some cast texturing finished. #histscalemodels 0383
bandwevil @bandwevil.bsky.social · 15/08/2026Back to #histscalemodels with this Staghound I've had sitting around for a while. Looks nice, but it's got to have some of the worst instructions. 6231
bandwevil @bandwevil.bsky.social · 11/08/2026Finished up painting on the Fulcrum kitbash. #scalemodels 0181
bandwevil @bandwevil.bsky.social · 27/06/2026A bit burnt out on the G.3, decided to try something new to me, a kitbashed spaceship. This was 3D printed off a design by @sublightdrive.bsky.social then covered with styrene sheet and a bunch of greeblies. #scalemodels 1475
bandwevil @bandwevil.bsky.social · 06/06/2026Stitching the upper wing together with 0.1mm wire. Also going to have to figure out a bigger photo backdrop, my current setup isn't going to fit this thing's wingspan. #histscalemodels #bastillebuild 3182
bandwevil @bandwevil.bsky.social · 31/05/2026One issue I have with the G.3 kit is they decided to mold the strut tapes as significantly raised details, when in reality the tape has basically no visible thickness. I think it will be best to sand them all off and paint them on later. #histscalemodels 0181
bandwevil @bandwevil.bsky.social · 29/05/2026Caudron G.3 progress, cockpit interior is pretty much done and ready to be closed up. #BastilleBuild #histscalemodels 6475
bandwevil @bandwevil.bsky.social · 16/05/2026Started on #BastilleBuild, cockpit parts ready for painting. Wasn't a fan of the kit's front seat look so I chopped it off, designed & printed a replacement. Not sure if I like the bare version or the cushion more, I'll paint them both and decide later. #histscalemodels 0241
bandwevil @bandwevil.bsky.social · 10/05/2026Finished up the Tamiya Pak 38. A very nice little kit, lots of detail parts that are unfortunately difficult to show off once it's glued down onto a base. #histscalemodels 3383
bandwevil @bandwevil.bsky.social · 03/05/2026PaK 38 progress, basic painting done. Figure painting is not a strong suit of mine, but I'm happy enough with these. #histscalemodels 0222
bandwevil @bandwevil.bsky.social · 02/05/2026Not actually starting on #BastilleBuild yet as I have a PaK 38 to finish up first, but I did unbox all the sprues. Gonna be a big build, 1/48 Camel for scale. #histscalemodels 3321
bandwevil @bandwevil.bsky.social · 25/04/2026Finished up the Eduard Camel. Didn't intend for this to take up the better part of 4 months to build, but I'm happy with how it ended up. #histscalemodels 5526
bandwevil @bandwevil.bsky.social · 05/04/2026Procrastinating on working on the Camel rigging, decided to throw together this Tamiya Pak 38. #histscalemodels 1222
bandwevil @bandwevil.bsky.social · 09/03/2026Struts attached, the Camel's finally looking like a plane. Now on to rigging her up. #HistScaleModels 1495
bandwevil @bandwevil.bsky.social · 03/03/2026Started the oil weathering on the Camel, really brings out the detail Eduard put into this kit. #HistScaleModels 2442
bandwevil @bandwevil.bsky.social · 23/02/2026Tried peeling the Eduard decal film for the first time, started off okay but got a lot of torn bits along the rib taping. Shouldn't be difficult to touch up those spots though, and I think the final look is worth it. Also printed out my own decal for the tail fin. #HistScaleModels 2240
bandwevil @bandwevil.bsky.social · 20/02/2026Finally finished up painting on the Camel. Now on to dealing with Eduard decals. #HistScaleModels 0281
bandwevil @bandwevil.bsky.social · 11/02/2026Wood grain on, I always find it a fun effect to paint. #HistScaleModels 5362
bandwevil @bandwevil.bsky.social · 08/02/2026Got some paint down on the Camel. Used the bare linen mix on the wood areas as well, to serve as a base for wood grain effects. #histscalemodels 0231
bandwevil @bandwevil.bsky.social · 02/02/2026Clerget engine for the Eduard Camel, before and after painting. Replaced the pushrods with wire, plastic ones hid most of the cylinder from view. #histscalemodels 0162
bandwevil @bandwevil.bsky.social · 27/01/2026Weird little issue, the PE part Eduard included for this step is completely the wrong shape. Especially strange is that the image of the PE sheet in the instructions has it correct. 040
bandwevil @bandwevil.bsky.social · 25/01/2026Replicated a couple modifications William Barker made to his Camel. 3D printed a jig to draw out where the cowling slots needed to be cut away. Luckily Eduard did provide a top wing with the wider opening, just had to add styrene and bend a wire to shape. #histscalemodels 0222
bandwevil @bandwevil.bsky.social · 22/01/2026Eduard Camel internals all painted and rigged, ready to put it all together and close up the fuselage. #histscalemodels 1343
bandwevil @bandwevil.bsky.social · 17/01/2026Did some 3D modeling & printing for the Camel. I'm doing Barker's plane, which had funnel intakes that Eduard expects you to scratch-build. The kit seat and Vickers cooling jacket look alright, but printing gives a lot more detail. #histscalemodels 2170
bandwevil @bandwevil.bsky.social · 06/01/2026Started on my first kit of the year, Eduard's Sopwith Camel. All the various internal bits are ready for paint. Added some wire for fuel piping, plus a seat cushion I 3D printed for a previous attempt at this kit. #HistScaleModels 2292
bandwevil @bandwevil.bsky.social · 31/12/2025Calling the Spitfire done. A nice, straightforward build. #HistScaleModels 0466
bandwevil @bandwevil.bsky.social · 17/12/2025Decals and matte varnish down, so I can pull the masking off. And now, on to the weathering. #histscalemodels 0272
bandwevil @bandwevil.bsky.social · 13/12/2025Base paint down on the Spit. Decided on a light blue underside to represent a squadron-applied paintjob before Sky was standardized. #histscalemodels 0203
bandwevil @bandwevil.bsky.social · 06/12/2025Next up on the bench, the Tamiya 1/48 Spitfire. Cockpit went together without an issue as expected for a Tamiya kit. #histscalemodels 0344
bandwevil @bandwevil.bsky.social · 03/12/2025Going to start posting model builds on here. Here's my most recently finished kit, MiniArt's 1/35 SU-76M. #histscalemodels 3535
