Correction - the war in Ukraine could turn into russia’s Afghanistan, if Putin doesn’t pull out. Soviet spent a decade in Afghanistan before they gave up and then Soviet collapsed. Afghanistan sent the orcs back to Mordor, Ukraine will do the same, and we should help them speed it up!
