Three men drawn from photos of the Florida State Fair. Fountain pen and carbon ink on watercolour paper.
Hand-drawn black ink sketch of three expressive men closely grouped together, each wearing distinctive headwear. The central bearded figure wears glasses and a baseball cap, flanked by a man in a wide-brimmed hat and another with long swept-back hair. Detailed cross-hatching and loose pen lines create strong shadows, texture and character.

We designed the official T-shirt for Count Binface’s campaign in Clacton. He’s very generously donating 50% of his proceeds to the homeless charity Shelter. If you’d like one, we are going as fast as we can, available at Binfaceshop.co.uk

“Just start drawing and see where it takes you” they said.
Sketchbook page featuring humorous purple-ink portraits of four England football players with handwritten captions describing their favourite sandwich fillings. The page includes green watercolour washes behind the drawings and retro comic-style lettering reading ‘England stars and their favourite sandwich fillings.’ Speech bubbles include combinations like ‘grape and brie,’ ‘jam,’ ‘chicken & bacon,’ and ‘peanut butter & marmite.’ The players wear England shirts with Nike logos, and the page ends with the joke line ‘Sponsored by Nike Air.’ The illustration style is loose, crosshatched, and caricature-like, with a playful football fanzine aesthetic.

A gel pen portrait/caricature of Lowry. Holds the British record for the number of honours he refused (5) including a knighthood. Quite the chap.
A black and white ink drawing in a spiral-bound sketchbook of British artist L.S. Lowry (Laurence Stephen Lowry, 1887–1976). The detailed portrait shows him from the shoulders up, wearing a suit and tie, with short textured hair and a slight smile.

I think enough time has passed that the trauma has died down a little and I can share this. Last year, on holiday, the hotel had a Michael Jackson tribute act on. Then he went around the audience. Children were literally screaming.

Drawing of Robert Crumb. Fude fountain pen (and Tipp-Ex 😬).
A black ink portrait sketch of artist Robert Crumb wearing a wide-brimmed hat and round glasses, resting his head on his hand. The drawing uses expressive linework and cross-hatching, with strong shadows on the right side of his face and under the hat brim. He has a short beard and a slight smile, and the sketch is done on a page in a spiral-bound notebook placed on a table.

Two new sketchbook drawings. One is pen and ink and the other is pen and ink and the kitchen sink.
Pen and ink sketchbook drawing of a dashing young man. It’s meant to be Kerouac but I didn’t spend much time on proportions because I wanted to get straight to ink and that’s the price uou pay. Pen and ink drawing of a balding and suited man form the BBC news website. Then coloured with watercolour but overdid the watercolour so i went over the highlights with a bottle of TippEx which, incidentally, was invented be Michael Nesmith’s mum.

I absolutely LOVE that little asterisk next to the slogan “Non-stop freshness”. Presumably qualifying the point that, as we all know, at some point, the freshness HAS to stop.

I went to the Robert Crumb exhibition in Mayfair yesterday. I’ve long been a Crumb fan so I was always going to love it but sweet Jesus, it’s good. Free entry and a couple of days left. Five stars.

Here’s an amusing pen and ink illustration of me finally shaving my alopecia ravaged head. I’m actually happy now I’ve done it. This was just the moment.
“Hand holding a small sketchbook page with detailed black ink drawings of a man’s face before and after shaving his head. The top drawing shows the man with messy hair and a speech bubble urging himself to shave it off, while the bottom drawing shows him bald with a surprised expression and the words ‘Jesus Christ.’”

Saw this tree today that looks like an oil painting of a tree, but it’s not. It’s an actual tree. Life imitating art imitating life, or something. I can’t be bothered to think that through but I think it checks out. Yes. Life imitating art imitating life.

Did a hand drawn label for my mate’s eye-melting moonshine. Obviously in exchange for a jar.
Hand-drawn black ink illustration in a notebook resembling a vintage product label or apothecary bottle design. At the top in large ornate lettering: "NAPIER'S". Below it, a wild-eyed man's face wearing a beanie-style hat, surrounded in by bamboo stalks and large cannabis leaves. Prominent arched text reads "KNOCKOUT DROPS" with "SPICED RUM" underneath. Smaller text says '"Relaxant"' in quotation marks. The entire design is heavily bordered with dense floral, leafy, and decorative patterns filling the remaining space. We are going to close in 14 minutes. Before that, here's a T-shirt we designed for Richard Pye who is standing for the Greens in Ruislip. We've made him look like an old timey greengrocer but really he's just a vegan. If you'd like us to design a T-shirt for YOUR political campaign, hit us up.

Over the last few weeks I’ve been going to the new Uxbridge Library. I wanted to wait for my anger about the old one closing to subside so I could be objective. If you’d never seen the old one you’d think it was a perfectly good and functional library. I drew it, too.
Black-and-white pen-and-ink sketch of a long library aisle in Uxbridge Library, drawn in one-point perspective. Tall bookshelves line both sides, receding toward the back of the room under strip lighting. In the foreground, the artist’s hands are visible holding a small sketchbook and pen; the open page reads “UXBRIDGE LIBRARY.” The drawing has detailed cross-hatching and a calm, observational atmosphere.

Pen and ink drawings of Neal Cassady, Darren Jones the Minister for Intergovernmental Relations, and a man who was in my mum’s copy of Gardener’s World.
Sketchbook page featuring three black-ink portrait drawings of men. Two larger head-and-shoulder portraits are at the top, one of an older man looking to the side and one of a man wearing glasses and a tie facing forward. Below them is a smaller portrait of a man looking downward, wearing a scarf and jacket. The drawings use fine linework and cross-hatching for shading.
